Lovely dark, roast chocolatey aroma with hint of coffee, deep and dark. I am detecting a woodiness as well. Looking great - jet black with a pretty dark brown head. Wow! Flavour so chocolate, thick, vanilla, coats the tongue with oily silk indulgence. Heavily burnt flavours at the end which in a long drawn out way balance the initial sweetness. The Cypress wood isn’t something I know, but it is lending a great aspect to this brew. Great experience, Very impressed!

A highly suitable name! Pours a thick dark liquified cake, with hints of vanilla and chocolate in the aroma.Delicious taste, a beer to enjoy slowly.

Grifo. On-tap. Tasting glass @ Freiburg (Barcelona). Pours black in color headed by creamy foam. Tan crown is lasting & thick layered. Wide rings are left on sides. Milky chocolate, biscuit, dark fruit, herbal & subtle mocha aromas rounded by hints of muscatel. Very smooth & flavorful upfront –as expected from aromas. Full body. Soft carbonation. Velvety & unctuous palate. Increasing alcohol hues display notes of anise & herbs, hints of muscatel raisin & wood. Gentle hoppy -just to balanced- sweetness are reinforced by dark cocoa bitterness & linger into a sweet finish. Slight prune on the aftertaste.

Wow. Lashings of chocolate and caramel in the malt. Reminds me of a liquor laden ginger cake. Very creative.

Thick and creamy with almost no head. Loads of chocolate and roasted notes both in aroma and taste. Wonderfully creamy mouthfeel. This is good!

Wow. Very chocolate but with such rush roasted barley in, it tastes a little like drinking a BBQ! ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

330ml. Filthy tar with a luxurious yellow tan mousse. Deep chocolate, fudge and coffee bean aroma completed with suggestions of dried black grape, roasted almonds, Crunchie on fire and general opulent black chocolate cake filth. Utterly lovely bittersweet compacted chocolate-striated flavour with a trace of orange and strawberry Neopolitan-tinged hop from behind a glutinous soupy tar of well-fired brittle black things. They include coffee beans, vanilla pods, carob, prune, 90% raisiny Lindt. Rich ashy finish. Right in the Lion cage. Close to total stout.

Bottle enjoyed at the Ale House, Chelmsford. Pours almost black with a good sized tan colour head. Warming dark malt chocolate aroma, slightly toasted with a hint of Caribbean spice cake. Medium sweetness, very smooth, creamy texture, low carbonation. Quite glorious. Could be topped if there was a Caribbean Chocolate Rum Cake version?
