Bottle shared in Hoboken - sourced from Beeritz. Pours oily black with a creamy beige head. The nose has lots of vanilla, charred malts, brewed coffee, wood, earth. Medium to big sweet flavor with note of molasses, burnt wood, ash, bittersweet cocoa, coffee grounds. Full bodied with fine to average carbonation. Warming finish with sticky dark sugars, more molasses, scorched earth, vanilla pods, rich chocolate. Great stuff.

Bottle shared by Leighton. Aroma is very boozy, bourbon, vanilla, coconut. Crazy thick body, with big chocolate flavors, a touch of strawberry. Bourbon is more controlled in the flavor. Fairly nice, but the aroma puts me off.

Bottle courtesy of Leighton. Thanks! Pours thick and super black. Aroma of deep coffee and a light touch of bourbon. Pretty good start here. Taste brings sweet coffee and chocolate with just a touch of bourbon. Holy shit, this is in the right spot for me right now. As it warms the bourbon becomes a bit more evident. A fair amount of alcohol burn here as well. Palate is fuller and slick. Finishes with coffee and bourbon; some bitterness in there as well. Not quite as sweet as BCS or Black Tuesday, which is a huge plus.

Countbeer (4726) - Best of E-Town mit ein Brauhaus, NETHERLANDS - DEC 14, 2014
Bottle: Thanks Leighton: Served in a Chouffe glass: Pitch black, motoroil pour. Small to medium sized dark brown foamy head. Aromas of bourbon, roast, vanilla, liquorice, some hints of earth, spices, mocha and soy. Flavours of roast, bourbon, sweet coal, vanilla, earth, spice, wood, some liquorice, some chocolate, hint of peat, light lacto, cream and mocha with a dried leaf edge. Aftertaste bourbon, wood, bitters, vanilla, roast and some liquorice. Low carbo, close to silky mouthfeel, full bodied, thick and light sticky texture. Very well balanced, thick and almost chewy, deliciously tasty!

Pours a brown shade of black. No head. Aroma of Bourbon and coffee. Taste is dominated by liquorice then bourbon and coffee. There’s a lovely long sticky liquorice finish on this beer, which stick to your mouth. The warmth of this beer stayed with me for a few minutes.

McNeillR (1325) - SCOTLAND - SEP 12, 2014
Tarry flat darkest brown with a sticky brown bath tub draining tannin. Nose is a burny, earthy and a spiciness driven by the barrel that is almost chilli-like. Syrupy thick yet peppered with the earnest coffee bitterness that breaks things up and keeps things nicely busy on the palate. Finish is cleanly boozy, the barrel maybe drying things out rather than overpowering it.
