Bottle in Trembling Madness, York. Pours almost black with a fading tan head. Sweet roasted malt aroma with coffee especially. The flavour is intense with loads of coffee and liquorice and plenty of spice to boot. Amazingly good.

Bottle from cotteridge wines. Very dark brown beer with medium mocha head and patchy lacing. Aroma of roasted malts. Taste is burnt brown sugar which I assume is the muscavado, roast coffee, licorice and dark malts. Easy going for the strength. Full bodied and creamy. Very good.

[ As Siren / Evil Twin Even More Jesus VIII ].
Clear dark brown color with a large, frothy - creamy, good lacing, mostly to fully lasting, light brown head. Aroma is moderate to heavy malty, roasted, chocolate, coffee, wood. Flavor is moderate to heavy sweet and moderate bitter with a long duration, molasses - caramel - sweet malt, roasted, chocolate. Body is medium to full, texture is oily, carbonation is soft, finish feel is light to moderate alcoholic. [20150411]

Smoky chocolate aromas, and a very smooth taste, the liquorice gives a dry finish, and makes it very drinkable for its abv

Bottle 330ml (AbM)
Opaque color, small brown creamy head, some lace. Coffee, licorice, brown sugar in the nose. Full-bodied, very heavy stuff. Front is alcohol and rubbery roasted maltyness. Finish has lots of licorice. Robust but slick slow beer. Like Mikkeller Black with benefits.

Bottle from Euston Tap. Almost black with a creamy, light brown foam. Licorice and roasted sugar prevails in the nose. The muscovado takes over in the mouth with subtle licorice smoothing it out. Quite original.

Thick, oily, black... dense tan head... aromas of burnt sugar, treacle, iron... big boozy flavours, roasted malt, treacle, brown sugar, coffee, chocolate... sweet, but not too sweet... boozy... really thick and creamy in the mouth, burnt bitter after taste. Really superb. My kind of beer.

Concrete and iron roast nose. Darkish brown full head to start. Acidic burn quality for the weight of the beer. Bit thin too. And roasty.

dense moccha head leaves some lacing. coffee coloured. aroma is bit leather, chocolate, molasses, bit boozy, slight green vegetal. taste like aroma, ash, muscovado sugar (reminds of black albert) with a bitter aftertaste from the roasted malts. dense mouthfeel, quite good carbonation. pours dense like motoroil. great ris, sure to improve even more with time. bottle 33cl / bbf jan-2016 / thanks rood!
