4.6 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 19/20
Bouteille. Robe noire.

Bottle at home. My lords. Black with a red hint through the light. Dark brown head that soon cleared. Aroma of smoke and burnt metal, coffee beans. Hints of coffee, beef, dark caramel malts. Semi carbonated, lively at first but then settled. Georgous.

3.5 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 14/20
Pitch black color. Thin dark brown head. I love the unique Buffalo Trace bourbon in the nose, i wish more breweries used these barrels. Intense molasses, rich velvety dark chocolate, licorice and charcoal notes. Slightly salty. Very low carbonation. In fact too low to the point of being next to flat. Really loses points on the mouth feel. Slightly sweet. Mouth is much more linear than the nose with lots of bourbon, dark chocolate and lactose notes. Finishes mildly sweet with bourbon and dark chocolate with lactose notes, but a bit lifeless. So much potential.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Pours the thinnest of all the BA stouts, this one pours out like a coke. Fizzy head, pitch back.
The first impression on the nose was akin to that of a lambic or a sour. On the follow up, it shows hints of the dark malts and coffee beans underneath.
The palate showed surprisingly the same. Some tartness, medium bodied, some of the roast malts appear on the finish. A little bit of the adzuki/red-bean sweetness on the back end also.

Bottle; 33cl; thanks to our Ken aka madmitch76. Me loves Buffalo Trace! Poured into St. Bernardus’ goblet at home. An opaque beer with nice white lacing which has diminished to the edge-of-the-glass! Very pretty to look at!
Aroma is bourbon; woodchips; oak; chocolate; peat; tar; leather and grains. Flavour is bourbon; vanilla; leather; oak; rich velvet; cream; dark chocolate; syrup; blackberries and motor oil. A really thick and guey beer. A sipper for sure! One of the better impys from the UK right now!
