neongolden (700) - Linköping, Sweden/Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - APR 17, 2015
(330ml bottle @ VilleValla Pub, Linköping, April 9 2015) Pours very dark brown with an average dark tan head. Aroma of coffee, cocoa, roasted malts, toffee, toasted oak, vanilla, hints of JD. The flavour holds fairly sweet and moderately roasted dark malts, light coffee, chocolate, some woody, smoky tones, oaky vanilla, maybe a little fruit, the whiskey cropping up towards the finish but pretty light. Aftertaste mostly coffee roast with a little wood/whiskey/chocolate. Light to medium body, average carbonation, no alcohol. The barrel character is quite reserved and the base stout is nice but not terribly hefty. Quite decent but lacks a bit of punch for me.

from Erzbierschof - black beer with a poor head retention; woody coffeish aroma with distinct notes of Jack Daniels, roasted and with hints of tobacco; full-bodied, a bit lactic, tasty and light grainy; dry abd bitter roasted coffeish aftertaste with lingering notes of black cherries and vanilla

Bottle. A dark brown beer with a dense, finger-thick light tan head. Unclear. The aroma is lovely, with mocha, chocolate, coffee and roasted malts. Perhaps a bit one dimensional. It’s very smooth and soft on the palate, with a nice carbonation level. Full to medium body. Coffee, cocoa, roasted malts and chocolate. Lasting finish with lots of chocolate and coffee. Really nice this one, and dangerously easy drinkable. Lovely. 150328

Bottle sample at a tasting at Dancing Camel Florentin. Thanks Stas & Vova. Black with a nice brown head. Lovely aroma of whiskey, chocolate, vanilla, coffee and a smoky note. Sweet flavor, roasty, with mild smoke, coffee, chocolate, some vanilla and whiskey. Medium-bodied, a bit creamy. Very good.

Bottle at home. Deep rich dark espresso flavour with a bit of dark fruit sweetness. Must admit, I didn’t notice big differences between this one and Jim Beam’s. They’re both Delicious.
