4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
330ml bottle [7.4% abv as per label]. Jet black colour with late awakening, small, half-way lasting, minimally lacing, tan head. Dark malty aroma with hints of oak, leather, a touch of treacle, vanilla, very cautious hints of mustard and freshly compounded concrete. Taste is slightly dry, subtle dark malty sweetness, notes of treacle, vanilla, oak, leather; oily texture, unbelievably smooth, soft, silky and slightly sticky palate. Man! F***ing awesome! Rich like an Impy Stout, comparatively easy drinkable, and so charmingly soft without being flat - excellent!

4.1 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
33 cl bottle.
Pours gorgeous black color with a large, thick beige head. Aroma is just bursting with vanilla and roasted malts, faint tar notes, dark chocolate and some licorice also. The aroma is simply amazing. Almost creamy smooth palate from all the vanilla and chocolate on the flavor, some distant port notes on the background, toasty malts with caramel and subtle tar. Medium carbonation, smooth as silk with a very deceptively high drinkability. An excellent dessert stout.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle BB Sep 2014. Black, no real head - just a few bubbles. Aroma - mostly milk chocolate. Touches of bourbon, sour milk and ash. Body is medium, low carbonation, pretty smooth. Taste - soft chocolatey malts, some bourbon and apple. So drinkable. For me, this isn’t as complex or as tasty as the Buffalo Trace version though it is still very good. Siren continue to impress.

4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
330ml bottle at The New Penguin. Pitch with a loose marbled tan head. Meaty smoked mackerel bourbon nose with burnt custard, blackberry and well-scorched oak. Brilliant incinerated blackberry crumble and custard flavour sweet with oak and bitter with roast. Beautifully smoked Bamberg Bacon, pecan and flamed toffee afters. Genius.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20
330 ml bottle. Pours a pitch black colour with a small creamy head. Aroma of sweet bourbon notes, some mild berryish notes and chocolate. Flavour is very smooth with roasted malts, vanilla, milk, strong sweet bourbon, biscuit and chocolate. Medium bodied, very smooth and soft mouthfeel with soft carbonation. For someone who hasn’t tasted any barrel aged beers this would be a great introduction. Very smooth and easy, not very complex, but the barrel is well presented. And yes, I like Jim Beam.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Tasted on 2/7/14 from a bottle at the Friday night tasting at RBWG Asheville, big thanks to Leighton for sharing. Pours dark oily brown with an average brown head that leaves an average collar of lace. The nose is dry coffee, chocolate brownie, along with some vanilla and coconut oak. The flavor is the same with the chocolate brownie, and even a bit more oak than the nose. The body is full with just under average carbonation and a long bourbon brownie finish. Overall, not the darkest stout, more focused on milk chocolate than coffee or dark roast.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle from Siren, Friday 21st February 2014 directly from brewery door, consumed at home Thursday 27th February 2014 Pours black with a small tan head, there is a little bit of coca cola in the mouth. Interestingly this is not as meaty as the Buffalo Trace version. There is more whisky on nose with this one, perhaps more than I expected. A little chewy, very warm in mouth, this is becoming very chocolatey and smooth, bettrr than the Buffalo Trace. A7 A4 T8 P4 Ov16 3.9

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle shared at RBWG, the Friday night Dumptown Inn bottle share. Pours a deep brown with a beige head. Notes of chocolate, charred oak, tobacco, burnt sugar, and molasses - the bourbon and vanilla notes don’t jump out quite as much. Medium-bodied, with low carbonation and a smooth, rich mouthfeel. Good barrel aged stout; I’d be interested to try the other versions.
