Cask, Keg & Bottled; Special - June to August 2013.
Note: Although the bottle is labelled 2.7%, it’s actually 2.8%, same as ther draught.

The goal was to create a beer with flavour, balance and body at only 2.8%, a Quarter IPA, QIPA if you will. Heavily hopped but with low bitterness this beer pops with notes of mango and grapefruit and is the perfect summer beer.

Bottle received in the Euro Secret Santa, thanks to minutemat. Pours hazy golden with a large frothy white head with good retention, lace and regeneration. Looks lively. The nose is fresh and hoppy with citrus, flowers, dry grass, hay, peach, apricot. Flavour follows: Citrus, peach, apricot, dry grass and minerals. Light body, lively carbonation, low sweetness, light/medium bitter. Long hoppy finish. Dry, crisp and refreshing. Doesn’t feel thin even though the abv is low. Good.

From tap at Fermentoren Aarhus. Pours a hazy, clear golden with a huge white head. Aroma has nice, fruity hops, light soapy floral, pineapple, passion fruit. Taste is light to weak, slight soapy, but still pretty tasty, light hoppy bitter finish. Flat carbonation due to the 15 minutes it took for this glass of foam to become beer. Light to watery body.

Bottle from Tanakaya. Pours a clear gold with 2 fingers of white foam. Nice zesty, citrus-forward nose with light iyokan and lemon. Bone-dry on the palate with mineral water-like carbonation. Maybe a bit too dry for me, but for 2.8% abv it’s pretty good.

Bottle from the Magpie and Crown, Brentford. Dark gold, hazy, with a decent-sized off-white head. Some lacing. Mango and papaya dominate the aroma, but there’s an odd plastic note with something else akin to mosquito spray. Doesn’t completely spoil it but knocks it back a notch. Taste is balanced, sweeter than most session IPAs, and there’s a savoury note akin to pumpkin. Long finish is much more bitter as the tangy hops linger. Not perfect but my God there’s bags of character for this ABV.

Gott.
