Bottle. Pours deep amber with an off-white head. Aroma of malt, herbs, bread, alcohol, vanilla, wood, lemon and pine. Flavor is sweet and malty with some wood, vanilla, some warming alcohol and bread. Medium to full body, soft carbonation.

Bottle. A hazy, dark amber colored beer with a dense, beige head of very moderate size. It’s malty on the nose, with caramel and toffee, and a nice piney, resiny hoppyness. Alcohol, some dried fruits. The flavor is a bit dry I think, with bitterness, caramel sauce, resins and booze. Full body with some warmth and a nice carbonation. Long, piney, bitter finish with maltyness in the back. Quite decent this one, but far from a rave. 150808

Pours hazy amber with a off-white head. Aroma has notes of malt, caramel, dried fruits, oxidization, vanilla, oak and alcohol. Taste is heavy sweet and light to medium bitter with a long warm, oak, vanilla, caramel and dried fruity finish. Body is full, texture is oily, carbonation is soft.

Murky brown color. Frustrating experience to peel the wax off (in tiny pieces) Aroma: typical barrel-aged aroma’s, caramel, dried fruit, oak, some vanilla: Taste: as you’d expect from a barrel-aged barley wine: pretty sweet, a bit of oak and a sour touch in the finish. A bit wine-y.

Courtesy of Kraddel. Thanks. Good sample from a 375 ml. bottle. Dark reddish brown, little mocha bubbles. Nose is oxidation, big sherry, herbal, oak, rotting wood vinous,… Taste is oxidized, big sherry, old rotting wine oak, light whisky, herbal, glue, brown sugar, bit muted by oxidation, odd vinous quality,… Oxidation evident in its body. Not sure if age worked in tis benefit. Good & interesting but not outspoken enough. Lovely packaging but the wax was very flimsy and cheap.

Pours clear, dark caramel coloured. good white head. Smell is rather sharp for a BW. Oak, wine ( ? ) aspects. Taste is bit sweet, barley-wine maltyness. Some wine-tannines as well as some wood. OK, bit less than expected but good nevertheless

Bottle from Coppers, Newcastle. Hazy dark red-brown coloured with a tart cherry and sherry flavour, spicy red fruity and vanilla notes followed by a very warming fruit, oak, whisky and earthy finish.
