Bottle. Brewtique, Macclesfield. Hazy, reddy amber. Film of off white head. Fruity, boozy cake mix aroma. Some woody orange hop, too. Bit peachy. Fairly vibrant, for the style. Taste is fruity dry. Quite harsh, woody bitter. Palate is oily, and chewy. Lots of boozy warmth. Finishes fruity bitter. Slightly metallic. Not as smooth or full as I expected. All a bit woody, and dry, for me.

Bottle from bottle-shop.eu. Shared with Erwin and tderoeck. Hazy dark amber, beige foam. Aroma of chocolate, caramel, tropical fruit, pine. Light sweet, harsh bitterness. Ok.

Bottle purchased at the Brew Dog Bottle Dog shop in London. A fine mixture of classic Euro Barley wine with some weightier and pretty unique elements. Lovely chestnut brown colour with a slash of orange, with a fluffy light tan head. The nose has a rich malt underlying dark berries, toffee and something a bit astringent and lightly medicinal. This is a full bodied BW. The nose elements carry through into the taste, supplemented by slightly sour cherries, touches of chocolate and coffee, banana, and a hint of both sourness and light bitterness. As you work your way through the bottle, the dark berries push their way forward more and more, and a slight alcohol warmth complete a very complex and enjoyable sipper.

Bottle for De Bierkoning. This is a drain pour. Tastes of metal and batteries. Some bandaids and bile. Supremely disappointing since I paid ~$25 for this and brought it back to the states to share with friends. Must be a bad bottle given the other ratings.

Bottle from brewdog bar, Sheffield. murky Maroon with not much head. Aroma is complex, natural prune and plum you always get with barley wine, but with woody okey flavours and some zesty spicy notes too. Taste is sweet and sour, with spicy bitterness and alcohol warmth. Quite prickly and a medium body with oil. Really like this one.

2014-12-19. Hazy murky brown body with a modest bubbly beige head. 3+ Aroma is fairly alcoholic, toasty caramel malt. 7+ Flavour is similar, fairly alcoholic, lingering bitterness in the finish, it is much more bitter than expected. Average plus bodied palate, light carbonation. Ejoyable but I’d prefer more of the sweet malty base and less of the bitterness personally. Bottle from Valhalla’s Goat, Glasgow.

On tap @ Copenhagen Beer Celebration 2014 enjoyed on a bench in the park. A neat glowing warm and deep amber one this with a impressive and lacing mild beige head. Lots of aroma! Sweet and caramelly nose, toffee, vanilla biscuit. Really nice. Oh, this tastes nice also. Not sweet at all based on the aroma, really wood dry. Espresso powder with some licorice, mild fruity and really powerful with a little warning bourbon tail . Yeah, really nice indeed! 02.05.2014

Liten krona. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
