4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle from Cotteridge Wines. I had a brilliant review lined up for this last night, but I’ve forgotten it. The beer was obviously very nice. They should sell it in 3 litre bottles.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle 37,5 cl. Murky brown in color with a small off-white head. Notes of garden flowers, dark fruits and wooden oakyness in aroma. Chocolate, sweet brown sugar, oak and dark semi-sweet fruits are present in taste. Bit of some vanilla and warm alcohol notes appears towards the end. Doesn’t feel too cloying and thus this brew is quite enjoyable.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Dark reddish amber with a fat coat of beige head that never disappears. Aroma of toffee, orange peel, lime, almonds, spices, red wine vinegar. Some alcohol. Full bodied, creamy texture. Sweet, but dries out a fair bit towards the end. Finish is woody, bitter and boozy but not hot. Rather more dark, dried fruits and red wine than toffee, quite a lot bitter orange, lime and some spices. Very interesting beer - the beer seems to be just a supporting player to various barrel-related flavours and doesn’t have much grunt or depth of itself. But the barrel things are complicated enough (whisky, Sherry, Cointreau? - I dunno) that no one thing really dominates and the beer-as-support-player thing works pretty well.

a pretty interesting version of a barleywine, sort of sweet, not too hot, kinda dry caramel-y.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Impressively smooth given the ABV. Taste of wine and wood on a beer that is a little sweet but not too malty or hoppy.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Really a nice barley wine. Super subtle feel here for something so high in alcohol. Pours maroon without much head or lacing. Light citrus and some candied malt. Light booze and some lime zest and pepper. Finishes citrusy light sour with some sweetness. Tap at Churchkey.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Tap at CBC 2014. Beer in the glass brownish, small head. Light alcoholic aroma. Starts intense spicy-alcoholic, woody, fruity hints. Finish less alcoholic, more malty notes, not too roasty. Not bad.

Nose - apricots or canned mandarins in syrup. Maybe a spice note.
Taste - orange tang and dried fruit and nuts.
Palate - full bodied with a big tangy texture and a strong rich powerful finish which is there for at least a couple of minutes.
Overall - outstanding, lovely beer!
