brontebeach (156) - Greater London, ENGLAND - APR 18, 2014
From bottle. Pours murky brown. Nose rich, smooth and balanced but with an alcohol tinge although after a while in the glass this fades. Promises more of a heavy hollow through, but is actually quite delicate although the aftertaste is short lived and perhaps lacks the complexity one would wish. Good though. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

SlackerMads (1607) - Greater London, ENGLAND - APR 18, 2014
Bottle. Cool label. Hazy chestnut brown with a forever lasting medium sized tan head. Fruity nose, Dry, tannic, wooden, earthy. Fruity notes of lime, pear, golden raisins. Fruity barrel notes in direction of triple sec, chardonnay, muscatel. Warming alcohol. Light toasted and bready malts. Full body, oily/light sticky texture, soft carbonation, medium/heavy sweet and bitter. A different barley wine with the barrels dominating while the malt base being somewhat neutral. Really an experience, but also a bit rough and tannic.

Bottle into snifter. murky orange, off white fading head. Caramel, dried fruits. Super smooth body in the mouth, bouncing complex flavor, alcohol up front, some citrus, orange, dryness puckering in the cheeks. Sophisticated dry tail, will only improve in complexity with age I feel. wonderfully done, not ball breakingly amazing, but very solid barley wine style with a twist.

Bottle. Lovely thick taste followed by an Check out Siren Maiden 2013 at @ratebeer http://ratebeer.com/b/254526/ hit of flavour that is almost sour followed by the warmth of alcohol from the 11% abv. The aftertaste is complex with the aging process clearly adding a whisky oak flavour. Less sweet than other barley wines which makes this behemoth of a drink much easier to quaff. Definitely something to look out for.
