Pours viscously to a thick dark brown-beige head over redbrown-shot near black beer. Alcohol, brandy and certainly Bourbon with vanilla and young oak, cypress. Superb & intense. Bitterish-lactic-roasted to burnt, and then the vanilla. Coffee warming up, treacle; later also a rosemary flavour. Bit sticky MF, very well-bodied, viscous, warming. Excellent. The power of British craft brewing proven. Just... why the utterly stupid wax???

Bottle from Bottle Apostle. Pours very dark brown to black, oily, brown chocolate head. Looks great! Nose is sweet brown sugar, black treacle, roasted malt, dark chocolate, black liquorice and molasses, some cognac. Taste is very sweet, brown sugar, liquorice, yeast extract, roasted malt, black coffee grains, prune, black treacle, slight cognac , maybe slight earthy oxidisation. Very good beer.

Found back quite some tasting notes, among them, this one. Had this post-ACBF in Gainsbar if I’m not wrong... APPEARANCE: pitch black beer, nice stable beige head. NOSE: chocolate, bourbon, quite alcoholic, somewhat sweet. TASTE: bourbon overload, quite dense, sugary, candy sugar? oak, chocolate.

Bottle. Pours black in color with a creamy tan head. Chocolatey roasted notes mixed with some ripe dark fruits in aroma. Coffe beans and lushy licorice here as well. Nice. Full one with very soft and smooth mouthfeel. Chocolotey coffee and wooden notes in taste at first. Charcoal with bitter cocoa later on. Good brew nonetheless, a sipper to be enjoyed with time.

Pours dark as hell with dark short-life head. Nose introduction of barnyard, quickly followed with lots of dark red fruits, cassis, soft booze, grape tannines, wine barrel and dark rummy cane sugar from the muscovado. Mouth-filling and warming in the mouth too! Licorice, forest fruit hints accompanied by dark malts, this stunning imperial stout is the highlight of my birthday!

Sampled from a bottle purchased from the brewery. This is a heavyweight beer! Pours very dark, and gives powerful roasted malt, coffee and liquorice aromas. There is a tight, foamy head. The taste is strong and sweet with bags of coffee, liquorice (very strong) and vanilla flavours. Superbly well-balanced, characterful and mouth-filling. A superb Imperial Stout.
