Bottle @ THT January. Pours a vey dark beer with a small tanned head on top. Aroma of licorice, roasted malts, some boozy notes and definitely some barrel characters going on. Flavor is very sweet and sugary, loads of boozy, probably brandy, loads of blackstrap molasses in the back, giving it a sticky sweet mouthfeel and a long sweet finish. Very nice stuff!!

Bottle at Dean is off to his annual haircut tasting. Really nice oily black pour with thin creamy brown foam. Aroma is really fruity, fruit cake, rich chocolate, molasses, nice roasty notes, light brandy notes, licorice, really nice. Taste is sweet, nice herbal notes, licorice, tons of chocolate, light roast. Really nice.

Bottle shared at Deanís off for his annual haircut tasting thanks to Allesmetkaas. Pours near black with a short lived dark brown head. Aroma of roast, dark fruits, licorice, dark chocolate, molasses, light coffee, fudge and oak. Flavour is heavy sweet and bitter. Super thick and chewy crude oil palate. On tap @ Copenhagen Beer Celebration 2014. Enjoyed on a bench in the park. A nice big dark almost fluffy brown head on top of a deep and dark brown - near black colored beer. Itís really roasted this. Almost so that it has a smoky beef to it. Some sweetish biscuits, the chocolate kind and dark sweet cocoa. Smooth stuff! Really smooth with a near velvety mouthfeel and itís soft on the bubbles. Loaded with chocolate and dark roasted malts. Vanilla and wood plays nicely together in this. Really dry licorice finishes thus off. Nice! 02.05.2014

330 ml bottle at home. Pours deep black with a steady fine dark beige head. Aroma is fresh coffee beans, slightly roasted, green paprica as well. Medium body, bit metally, green bitters and slight sweetness. Kind of works for this stout! Refined: yes, typical stout; no; like it... yeah kind of.

Bottle. Pours black, tan head fades fairly quickly. Nose of muscovado, roast, dark dried fruit, sour cherries, light fruity coffee. Tastes moderate sweet dark sugar followed by cherry and berry acidity, red wine-esque notes, licorice, molasses, roast, prunes, some bitterness, and a dry finish. Full body, slick, very soft carbonation, some acidity and roast astringency in the finish. This is quite a different impy stout to the norm, I like it though. I think with just a hint more sweetness this would be even better.

Pours dense black with a mocha head, fading, leaving a good lace. Intense sweet nose of raisins, dried figs, violet, a bit of cinnamon and loads of dark sugar notes. Very reminiscent of a strong complex red wine. Full bodied, velvety palate, low carbonation, lots of dark fruits, with loads of blackberry, blackcurrant character. Long smooth coffeish finale with a lingering warmth. Beautiful.
