4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bottle from bestofbeers.dk. It pours opaque thick black withs dense mocha colored head. Spicy roasted aroma. Black malts, licorice, coffee, oak and light vanilla. Thick smooth mouthfeel. Very solid roasted flavor with oak, ripe fruit, vinous, licorice flavor notes and it ends up bitter roasted and oaky. Complex and a very solid entry.

Bottle from Rehills, Newcastle. This opaque black beer pours with a dark thin tan head. It has a very rich sherry and chocolate flavour, black cherry, oak and vanilla notes followed by spicy, warming tart blackcurrant and a smooth Bourbon finish. Very Nice!

Tasted blind. First impression: smells an looks fantastic. Color is black with the darkest brown I've ever seen. Roasty aroma with brandy/wine barrel aroma. Flavors; roasty, oaky, anise, some booze, nice dry palate. Finish is oaky/woody/bourbon/brandy. Lovely!

4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Pours viscously to a thick dark brown-beige head over redbrown-shot near black beer. Alcohol, brandy and certainly Bourbon with vanilla and young oak, cypress. Superb & intense. Bitterish-lactic-roasted to burnt, and then the vanilla. Coffee warming up, treacle; later also a rosemary flavour. Bit sticky MF, very well-bodied, viscous, warming. Excellent. The power of British craft brewing proven. Just... why the utterly stupid wax???

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle. Pours black in color with a creamy tan head. Chocolatey roasted notes mixed with some ripe dark fruits in aroma. Coffe beans and lushy licorice here as well. Nice. Full one with very soft and smooth mouthfeel. Chocolotey coffee and wooden notes in taste at first. Charcoal with bitter cocoa later on. Good brew nonetheless, a sipper to be enjoyed with time.

NOSE: chocolate, bourbon, quite alcoholic, somewhat sweet.
TASTE: bourbon overload, quite dense, sugary, candy sugar? oak, chocolate.

Nose is sweet brown sugar, black treacle, roasted malt, dark chocolate, black liquorice and molasses, some cognac. Taste is very sweet, brown sugar, liquorice, yeast extract, roasted malt, black coffee grains, prune, black treacle, slight cognac , maybe slight earthy oxidisation. Very good beer.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Pitch black, with short lived dark brown head. Bourbon, roast, chocolate, treacle... quite alcoholic, very sweet, and surprisingly thin in the mouth, presumably down to the addition of Liquid Mistress... quite heavy carbonation. Really nice, but not the thick gloopy impy stout I tend to prefer.
