COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Cask & Bottle conditioned and keg unpasteurised; Regular
A 4.5% pale ale with spicy, grassy aromas and a taste of grapefruit and apricot. Undercurrent is part pale, part oats and part caramel barley. Her swirls of bold, bready and nutty malt whirl into a concoction of spicy, citrus, floral hops. Mystery lurks in those cascade and palisade hops. Her silky, creamy body will pull you under.

Maybe I had this too cold but it was a bit tasteless and thin, with just a very bitter after-tase. A bit more came through as it warmed up but still a bit thin, especially in the after-taste. Aroma of nutty caramel wit a little, almost rye like spiciness. Some juicyness comes through in the taste but not loads, still thin. Disappointing overall from a super brewery.

Bottle. A hazy dark golden beer with a dense, finger-thick off-white head. Lots of tropical fruits and pine cones in the aroma. Some malts too. Really surprising, it feels like a DIPA, but itís at 4.5 % only. Amazing. Itís a bit thin on the palate, of course, with a nice carbonation level. Pale malts, sugar, pine cones, resins and bitterness in the flavor, the bitterness lasting for a good while. An amazing beer in one aspect, but not not my kind of beer anyway. 140717

330ml bottle from The Wine Emporium 060714. Something different, never had an oatmeal pale ale before. Quite a sark amber colour with a mountain of foam when poured into the glass.

Bottle from the Lionís Den, Yarm. Pours amber with a cream head. Loads of hop flavour - pine and citrus with creamy oats too. Plenty of flavour for a relatively low ABV beer. Nice contrast between a sweet start and bitter finish. Good but maybe a little thin.

Bottle from the Haymarket. Appearance - cloudy orange with a decent head. Nose - earthy spicy citrus. Taste - bitter lime with a spicy edge. Very pithy. Palate - close to medium bodied with a zingy texture and a long dry finish. Overall - interesting pickled lime thing.
