3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 tongatim (25) - Bellingham, Washington, USA - SEP 12, 2009Definitely not for everyone, but I like beer, and I like hot peppers, and I have tasted my share of failed attempts to merge the two. This one comes off quite nicely. Nice peppery aroma followed by a good malty mouthful, crisp and refreshing, then it hits you with a dose of flavorful heat.
Lordy, all I needed was a pickled pigs knuckle.
0.7 AROMA 1/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 1/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 2/20 dwyerpg (4067) - Las Vegas, Nevada, USA - MAY 8, 2013
This was absolutely terrible. It has ahoy and spicy aroma and flavor, but it is gross. I really don’t understand these chile beers. It is the opposite of refreshing.
2.4 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20 RedSox2004 (977) - Pacific Palisades, California, USA - FEB 18, 2013
Clear orange yellow with minimal head and lace. Strong strong chili pepper/jalapenos with an intense burn going down. Pretty interesting, but not something I’ll be looking for.
3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 Fatehunter (750) - Corbett, Oregon, USA - JAN 14, 2013
Poured a finger of head on a hazy, medium straw colored body. Low retention on the head.
The aroma is first a little grain and then a lot of habanero/jalapeno pepper.
The taste is HOT pepper all over the place. Drinking this 22 oz bottle will be challenging.
Crisp texture, moderate carbonation and medium body.
No doubt it’s a chili pepper beer. It is warm.
1.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 1/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 4/20 marcus (5004) - Sacramento, California, USA - DEC 8, 2012
Bottle from BevMo Folsom. Pours cloudy copper with a thin off-white head and a vegetable aroma. There is a light wheat flavor with a horrible extremely hot peppery finish. Don’t drink this unless you want to ruin your taste buds.
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 bnoel09 (378) - Elk Grove, California, USA - NOV 2, 2012
I’ve been interested in trying this for while, but always end up passing it up, so today I decided to just get it. Poured from the bomber into an English pint. Color ranges from dark straw to orange. Fairly clear with little head. Aroma is sort of bready and slightly grainy with some chili notes. Flavor starts off mild and bready but the pepper flavors quickly start to come through and take over. Seems like a good mix of green jalapeños and serranos. Nice heat on the finish that provides a lingering warmth in the throat and stomach. This isn’t ridiculously spicy, but if you don’t enjoy peppers and spicy foods, you’re not going to like this. Light bodied and dare I say refreshing. This is certainly a unique beer, but I enjoyed the whole bomber, and I could see this really being a nice compliment to some Mexican food.
3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 thome50 (573) - Boringville aka Irvine, California, USA - NOV 2, 2012
Draft at toronodo. Chili beer! Pours a hazy orange with 1 cm head. Aroma is fresh cut hatch and jalapeño chili’s. Taste is more aggressive heat and raw chili. More Serrano like. Leaves a definite chili and black olive taste. Lips are tingling. This is rad.
3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 AmEricanbrew (4868) - Belcher, Louisiana, USA - SEP 27, 2012
Clear golden color with fleeting white sheen. Big raw green chili pepper aromas with not much else. Light bodied with average co2. Green chili flavors with some bready pale malts---big lingering chili pepper burn to finish--not bad
3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 DedicatedToFun (653) - Alabama, USA - JUL 5, 2012
Intense, spicy.............................................
3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20 poisoneddwarf (1307) - Rathdrum, Idaho, USA - JUN 29, 2012
Bomber. Pours hazy pale yellow with a diminishing white head that falls fast into a thin collar of foam. Aroma is peppers with a vague vomity whiff that isn’t too bothersome. Taste is almost Cave Creek spicy! Cool. It’s also a bit meaty. I seem to be in the minority here, but I can’t get enough of pepper beers, the spicier the better.
2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 5000 (4974) - Hardened Liver, Washington, USA - MAY 12, 2012
Bottle:   Lets just sum this up as a novelty as any right minded person doesn’t want to drink chili peppers, but rather eat them.   I didn’t think of how spicy this might be but after my first big gulp I was regretting it.   If the base of this one is a Wheat Ale, I dont think you could tell.   Smells and tastes like earthy spicy chilis.   Doesn’t have a wheaty body, but it certainly has a chili pepper bite.   I could only manage 4 or 5 sips before this went down the drain.   Novelty is all it is... decent, but not worth drinking any more than an ounce or two.
