3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Sampled on tap at the 2nd annual Urban Chestnut Wolpertinger party in a dimple mug. It poured a cloudy light-amber colour with persistent white head and lace. True-to-style Belgian Tripel characteristics, nicely balanced, pleasant banana, clove, and black pepper notes, with less dominant yeast aspects and a stonger hops bitterness overall than some examples. Smooth, warming alcohol, no unpleasant fusels. I liked it better than Ommegang, which is high praise, but not as much as Square One.
