Brewed with almost two (2) pounds of hops per barrel and left unfiltered, the Six Row Double IPA showcases the citrusy and piney characteristics of the Columbus, Centennial, and Chinook hops.

Pour is a clear orange with a very small white head. Aroma is an adequate amount of citrus hops. Flavor is again more citrus hops with lingering dry malty backbone. Not an overpowering hop to this but just almost the right amount for an IPA. Alcohol is at the low end for a IIPA which is nice and makes this a well made beer.

Sampler at the brewpub. Deep copper color with a thin white head. Aroma is a good hop. Flavor is also very good and light citrus hops on a caramel malt. Not a bad brew.

12 oz. tulip glass at Bigelo’s. Aroma was toasty malt and some kind of funk. Couldn’t place it, though. Flavor began with nice malt. Hops were secondary and offered floral and pine. Some very nice fruit ran throughout. It was a bit sour but that was not a detraction at all here. A very modest IIPA. Not "in your face" at all but well contained and controlled. Nicely done. I wouldn’t dare rate it anything other than a 3.7 and break the streak.

Tap at brewpub. Pour into a snifter is deep copper with a thin white head. Aroma is resinous hop, caramel malt, light citrus hop, and faint rock candy. Flavor is also resinous and lightly citrusy hops on a backbone of caramel malt. Not too crazy but solid for sure.

UPDATED: FEB 4, 2011 On draught at the brewpub, served in a snifter. This beer is a clear bright orange color with a medium foamy off-white head that diminishes slowly. Sticky rings of lacing. Piney hops aroma with notes of citrus and malt. Medium body with a moderately bitter hoppy character that has pine and citrus notes, along with a nice malty balance. The finish is hoppy with a citrus aftertaste. Pretty good overall.

Pours amber/orange with a tight off-white head. The aroma has lots of grapefruit and bright citrus, pine, light tropical hops and some caramel malt in the back offering a bit of sweetness to offset. Medium body that’s light for the style with a moderate amount of sharp carbonation. The flavor starts with a nice balance of caramel malt and piny/earthy hops. Then it really dries out and isn’t very balanced - very hop heavy. The finish is woody / earthy / piny / dry grapefruit hoppiness and a bit of cracker taste from the malt.

Tasted 7/29/10. Snifter from the Brewpub. Hazy and unfiltered with an orange amber hue. Clinging bone white head. Aromas of pine, citrus and orange zest. Good hoppy nose. Full bodied with a good sweet initial malt character followed by a substantial grapefruit bitterness. Smooth drinker and the unfiltered aspect really adds a good amount of body to the brew. Subtle candy sugar note. Solid grapefruit and pine in the hop component. Nice heft, but still easy drinking. Well done and super fresh!

Draft served in a snifter at the brewery. Pours a mostly clear gold color with a small eggshell white head. Aroma of herbal hops, pine, orange citrus, and sweet malts. So fresh, simple, and nice. Flavor of pine resin, orange citrus, herbal and floral hops, sweet and pale malts. Similar to the nose, but not quite to the same level. Light-medium bodied, with fairly low carbonation for the style- this one goes down so, so easily. This was the first Six Row brew I’d ever tried, and it’s a really impressive one.
