This is nice ... *really* nice. Smooth. First impression is sweet. Upon more contemplation I am getting chocolate and coffee notes as well. Cannot believe the ABV is so high for a porter -- incredibly well hidden. Did I mention it’s smooth? Would love to see a stout version. As an aside, still not clear on the difference between a Baltic porter and that which does not harken in spirit from the Baltic region. Cest la vie.

Pours an almost opaque brownish black from the can with fluffy cream head that dissipates to leave good lacing. Aroma of coffee, dark chocolate, and roasted malts. Taste is coffee, chocolate, coffee, soy, and more coffee, with a lingering coffee bitterness. Solid, no hint of the booze.

4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Comes out of the can a rich, warm coffee brown with a fairly thick, if not overly persistent, tan head. Strong aroma has a core of roast malt and firm notes of quality coffee and semi-sweet chocolate plus a hint of molasses. Sublimely smoky flavor delights with notes of coffee and chocolate, plus a hint of molasses and a snip of hops. Smooth texture has a good amount of fizz, and though not as thick as a stout, is good for a porter. "Bean" nice drinking ya!

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Can from akurzinski - thanks, Adam! Sweet sludgy black pour with a crisp, thin beige head. Nose of very rich dark chocolate, coffee grounds almost as a complement rather than the lead voice. Thick creamy body, perhaps not quite dry enough and so it comes across as all milkshake. Flavors are pretty nice though, with burnt sugar, molasses, and hints of fruitiness from the bean, all adding to the overall richness of the base impy porter. Pretty good stuff.

12oz can: pours a transparent dark mahogany with a frothy lacing beige head. Has a sweet toasty dark caramel malty nose with lots of roasted coffee notes. Starts with good fullness and sweet biscuity dark malts with good coffee flavor before a drier bittersweet finish with some lingering roasty bitterness. Has good balance and complexity.
