Pours nearly black with a pilowy tan head; dissipates to a thin cap leaving plenty of lacing. Aroma is roasted malt, dark ripe fruit, cocao, licorice and vanilla extract. Taste is heavily sweet giving way to a slightly bitter finish. Body medium to full with some brisk carbonation. Enjoyable brew.

Dark brown pour with a creamy two finger beige head with great retention and crazy lacing. This nose is very malt forward with lots of sweet roasty coffee notes along with hints of vanilla, mocha, caramel, brown sugar, and some subtle hazelnut. The taste follows suit with lots of fresh roasty coffee up front along with hints of hazelnut, vanilla, caramel, brown sugar, cocoa, and brown bread. The mouthfeel is thick and creamy with above average carbonation and a bittersweet, slightly dry finish. The ABV is very well hidden. Overall, a very flavorful and easy drinking interpretation ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

(Backlog) Can. The look is dark, brown to black in color, foamy head dissipates quickly. The smell is coffee, roast, malt, burnt, ash, and black licorice. The taste is sweet, coffee, roast, burnt, acrid, and ok

Can. Black, oily pour with brown head. Intense espresso aroma. Big chewy body with an exceptionally smooth body. Nice flavors of coffee and cocao, with a smooth finish.

Dark brown pour, light brown head. Coffee baby. Nice black coffee integrated with a roasty/chocolatey porter. Good beer every time!

Another beer had on camping trip with the fellas. Stream temp into a camp mug. Points to nose: big coffee, chocolate, dark roasted malts, noticeable sweeness. Tasty coffee/chocolate combo, thick molasses. Tasty.

This beer is unique and the only fault is that I did not get the beer before the sell by date had been reached...

Can - Somehow my rating got nuked, so I’m going off of memory on this one. I recall this was about the score I gave it, and I recall lots of chocolate, not a ton of coffee, and nothing that would be the romano bean--at least that I can tell. I’ll have to revisit this one again sometime, but for now this will have to do.

Bottle... Pours black with a small, creamy, khaki head. Decent retention. More-so than coffee, the aroma is constructed of deep, dark malts, molasses and leather. Full-bodied with bristly carbonation. The bittersweet flavor and finish are loaded with scorched malt and blackstrap molasses with only a rumor of coffee.
