Can, at home. Deep transparent brown, creamy mocha head. Aroma of fresh coffee, chocolate, oak, some booze on the nose. Super creamy palate. Rich coffee flavor, sweet chocolate, vanilla, very mild bitterness on the finish. A great dessert beer.

On tap. Pours a deep almost black with a creamy tan head. Aroma of vanilla, chocolate, roasted malt and light coffee notes. Flavor was a mix of the same. Was hoping for a bi tmore coffee and chocolate character but still well done. Want to snag some cans.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
This beer makes a great pour, black with a 2 inch tan head. Let it air out and the head holds to 3/16". The aroma is mild coffee and cacao. Skim milf texture with a bitter coffee bite and start and a coffee dominated airy, foamy body. Deceptively mild.

Draft. Deep black . Nice foam surrounding the glass, some coffee beans and hops in the toasty flavor. Booze is not overly present till it warms up. Pretty good. Excited to taste the differences from the nitro can version

3.1 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
From the tall skinny 12oz can into a balloon tulip. Strong head off the bat, dissipates into some nice lacing and no head. Not overly malted but unfortunately there is a metallic aroma and taste. Slight bitterness of dark chocolate and coffee on the back end but not very prominent. Picked up the last 4 cans at the bottle shop. Probably trade/extra away. Just OK.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Super fresh can poured a dark cola brown in color with a coating of off white head that retained a ring on the glass. Aroma has coffee beans, dark chocolate cocoa powder (is there such a thing), light roast, and grains. Mouth feel is medium but does have a full texture. Flavor has dark bitter chocolate, grains, very light coffee, and some earthy minerals. Certainly a solid imperial porter but it is missing the big leading flavor.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 13/20
A nice brown body with a tan head that had little retention and no lace. Aroma was a mix of mildly roasted coffee malts and a good profile of cocoa malts, some mild peat notes. Flavor was well balanced slightly stronger on the roasted coffee malts than I expected from the aroma and the cocoa was just right. The alcohol was well hidden. Somewhat elevated carbonation, and it could have had a heavier mouth feel. Overall it was decent.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
nearly opaque dark brown color with a medium sized, tan head that left nice lacing on the glass. Aroma of roasted malts, coffee, burnt wood, and a bit of cocoa. Taste of more roast, cocoa, espresso vanilla bean, and a light alcohol in the finish.

2.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
UPDATED: AUG 1, 2014 Thanks to claspada for this. Sorry to say it didnít measure up. 12 oz can.
A: Opaque brown verging on black. Thick speckled creme head. Looks just about right.
N: Faint coffee and bittersweet cacao. Deep smell of malted barley. Thereís noticeable smokiness and a hint of peat. Touch of vanilla and milk. Tons of grains.
T: Sharp. Really sharp. Has a burnt, acrid chocolate flavor and pronounced ash, like they charred the oak barrel. Coffee has gotten lost on its way. Caramel shows, and there are hints of honey and flowers. Red grapes and uncooked macaroni? Not great. Under-attenuated?
M: Lots of alcohol and a medium mouthfeel I wasnít expecting.
O: really misses a lot of what should make it good. Very bitter, and yet, somehow backed up by nutrasweet. Iíll age the other can in hopes this mellows out or in case I got a bad one because this never comes together.

12 ounce can. Translucent dark brown color with deep red highlights. Small creamy beige head with lovely clinging Belgian lace. Rich roasted malt aroma has notes of dark roasted coffee and chocolate. Flavor of strong French Roast coffee and dark bakerís chocolate. Lotís of bitter hops as well. This is a beer to sip slowly and savor. Itís that big!
