3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 17/20
Pours a dark brown with an off white almost brown eggshell colored head. Heavy notes of coffee with a hint of chocolate. There’s lots of alcohol in the aroma. To a fault in my opinion. The palate is slightly thin. I wish this was a regular porter with the same coffee flavor and not the booziness.

12 ounce can, best before 10JUL2013 (as stamped on bottom of can). Served in a snifter, the beer pours very dark brown with about a half inch tan head that didn’t stick around for long. There is a good amount of lacing. It smells like coffee, roasted malt, bittersweet chocolate, caramel and some nuts. It tastes like coffee, chocolate (milk and bittersweet), cream, nuts, roasted malt and some vanilla. It’s a little more bitter and roasty than sweet tasting. Mouthfeel/body is medium, it’s a bit creamy and has moderate carbonation. I think this is a good brew, although I’d like it better if it was in 16 ounce cans instead. $8.99 a 4-pack.

Wow!!! Nicely poured dark brown with two inch khaki brown head and nice lacing down the glass. Smells of rich vanilla chocolate coffee and has a very similar taste but just a little to harsh on the bittering hops. Overall this is a pretty good beer I just wish it would leave less of a bitter lingering aftertaste.

can, pours dark brown with a nice khaki head and leaves very nice lacing in my snifter. Great coffee aroma, well its more a creamy cappuccino aroma, with chocolate and some oaky vanilla. Flavor is bittersweet chocolate, coffee, some slight woody oak notes. a bit thin but a good brew overall.

Pours a rich brown color with a big sticky head... Aromas are roasty and full of malted chocolate and coffee. The mouthfeel is smooth and the flavors well balanced. Nice touches of sweetness and earthy bitterness on the finish. Hides te alcohol magically !

Tried on tap and can. Thought it was better on tap, it was a little ’tinney’ in the can. Poured dark brown with a good head. Coffee and cocoa came through nicely - and that third bean added a roundness to the overall flavor profile. Also detected cinnamon and cardamom notes. A good beer with an interesting story (it was a Six Point takeover at the bar and we chatted with the Six Point guys for a while). Too bad I’ll probably never taste this again!

(12oz can) pours a very deep espresso brown, huge thick creamy head that lasts a good while and has excellent lacing. Nose of oats, fresh coffee and cream, rich like coffee ice cream, chocolate. Taste of cocoa, sweet coffee, wheat or oats (some smooth grain I can’t identify through the delicious coffee), lightly roasty, bit acidic but also smooth and creamy. Gonna go on record and say this is one of the better coffee beers I’ve had in recent memory.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 11/20
Can from Mari’s. Pours brown with red around the edges. There is a large light brown head, plenty of lacing. The aroma has a lot of chocolate, some coffee, roasty notes. The taste has a lot of dark, bitter chocolate, burnt coffee grinds, and a really rough finish. For a 10% beer, the alcohol presence is not surprising; however, the flavor of this beer is not strong enough to support it / balance it. I don’t get the hype, at all.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
12oz can. I sort of hate how Sixpoint beers labels fail to communicate the style of beer. Moving on...Thick unfiltered brown body, lacy off-white head. Sweet brown chocolate, caramel, coffee aroma. Sort of like a massive brown ale as much as a Baltic Porter, lots of sweet sugary specialty malts, but displays a nice balance too, with some mild spicy balancing hops somewhere in there. Sweet, syrupy finish. The sweetness is overwhelming after a point, A great dessert beer.
