A nice brown body with a tan head that had little retention and no lace. Aroma was a mix of mildly roasted coffee malts and a good profile of cocoa malts, some mild peat notes. Flavor was well balanced slightly stronger on the roasted coffee malts than I expected from the aroma and the cocoa was just right. The alcohol was well hidden. Somewhat elevated carbonation, and it could have had a heavier mouth feel. Overall it was decent.

One of the base beers in my recent trade with madnismo, shared one of these tonight with my Tuesday night friends. 2 finger tan head... pretty good retention and okay lacing atop a very dark brown beer that still shows nice ruby highlights at the stem. Nose is an enticing mix of cocoa, coffee and hints of oaky vanilla.. dark caramel sugary essence helps carry and marry the aromas. Bigger vanilla bloom on the palate that doesn’t show in the nose... plenty of cocoa, coffee is lesser than the nose... dark roasty malts also don’t show as much as expected... a sorta nutty malt moves in with the vanilla/caramel mash-up and produces an easy drinking brew. Body is surprisingly light given the 10%... good carbonation, but still thick and coating... very drinkable... deceiving. Thanks again Nathan for the great trade.

12oz can thanks to Toby. Pours out a dark brown topped with a tan head. Nose tons of coffee beans and roast malts. Taste is as the nose with a heavy coffee front a nice chocolate and a good roast on the end.

Rcvd in trade. Reviewed from notes. The appearance has a dark brown/almost black body with a three finger white foamy head rises and falls leaving some speckled foamy spider web lacing and is fairly clingy. The smell has some dark coffee up front with a slight chocolate in the background. The taste is sweet and bitter at different times through the coffee and chocolate. Sticky bitter aftertaste and finishes slightly dry. On the palate, it sits about a light to medium, comes across fairly sessionable despite where the ABV is. Carbonation seems just right to me and for the style. Overall, this is a pretty good Baltic Porter.

Can from Five Points Bottle Shop (Atl Hwy). Dark chocolate and light sugary coffee nose. Dark translucent brown with a thick rocky head. Initial is all chocolate, rich and sweet / deep dark plums, bitter fruit rind, soy sauce, and considerable alc. warmth / sweet finish with some slightly stinging hoppiness. Medium body. Very good balance of coffee and chocolate. Alc. is way up there. Could be a satisfying breakfast drink for cold winter mornings.

Skinny can from Harvest. Pours black, almost cola-like, into the pint glass, HUGE head that took awhile to dissipate before I could finish the pour, big sticky lacing on the glass. Aroma of burnt coffee beans, toffee, some vanilla, taste is ashy, burnt toast plus the coffee. Not the best I’ve had, seems like they were trying to do too much here. Unbalanced flavors that didn’t work well together.

Tall, skinny, 12oz can. Pours very dark brown. Creamy foam, tan head. Aroma of cocoa bean, roasted malts, hints of cold coffee. Mostly mocha. Very strong. Flavors that pass through: coffee, roast, burnt chocolate, caramel finish. Smooth texture, heavy body. ABV well hidden. Earthy complexity. Hop bitterness has a bit of a pine straw character. (3993)

Poured from a 12oz can I got in a trade, thanks Devin. Aroma is coffee, chocolate, and light roast. Flavors are coffee, chocolate, caramel, and a nice roast. Very nice solid coffee beer, another great beer from sixpoint!

12 oz. can shared by DrSilverworm- thanks again, Chris! Pours an opaque coffee brown with a huge, rocky, frothy beige head that leaves a ton of sticky lace in the glass. The aroma is too metallic, with coffee and cacao and dark chocolate, earth, dust, and booze. Flavor of coffee, cacao, copper, fudge, leaves, earth, burnt toast, brownie, a little spice, and booze. Medium-bodied, with medium carbonation and a boozy, roasty, burnt mouthfeel. A little disappointing.
