Seen Sixpoint cans showing up around town for a while now but finally got my first taste and it was on tap. Clear orange-gold with white head. Wheat, citrus, spice, a little banana.

Can poured into glass. Not really sure what I thought about this beer. Sort of reminded me of an abbey ale but with a wheat twist. Sort of strange, and though I appreciated it for what it was, I didn’t really dig it all too much.

In Bavaria last week and some 3 times in the last 4 months, but I think that biases not my rating to a more stringent standard. This was a subpar effort. Pour on draft was hazy dark straw yellow, lacking full carbonation and a head on display. The aroma was stale bananas, barely enough phenolic zip. The flavor lacked the same qualities, bubble gum and fruitiness under it, heavy flavor, sticky/sickly, came off like a higher abv belgian triple, it was so strong tasting. Finish not nearly dry enough. Glad to have finished.

On tap at Black Star. Light orange pour with a white head. Aroma is heavy on the bananas and cloves. Flavor is more of the same, with some thick wheat notes as well as some fruity bananas and light cloves. Medium, creamy mouthfeel and medium carbonation.

This is a good full flavored wheat ale with noticebale hopping. Its a rich apricot color with a little white head. The aroma is a mildly spicy wheat malt. The flavor is medium-dark wheat with an understated sweetness and a full weizen backbone with a little bubblegum amd bittering hoppiness on the finish. The finish is sptrizy amd refreshing on the palate. Though the beer is full and satisfying it maintains a lighter body and lends itself to a short session.

Can. Pours lightly hazy dark gold to orange with a medium, frothy white head, short retention with spare lacing. Aroma is phenolic bubble gum, tart lemon zest/pith, spicy wheat malt, grape fruity esters, and cooked bananas. Flavor is zesty and mouth watering lemon, light earthy wheat malt, balanced towards the lemon, faint hops and bitterness, and a dry finish. Light body and medium carbonation.
