Our first-ever seasonal can release arrives today, and it is brewed as a true celebration of this special moment in time. We made a trip out to Yakima Valley to the oldest continually operating hop farms in the country, and met with Patrick Smith, a 3rd generation hop grower. We selected and harvested 800 pounds of fresh “wet hops”

Can shared by a friend. Pours a clear orange/amber color with a medium tan head. Malty nose with spicy and grassy hop notes. Malty and vegetal flavor with earthy and spicy hops through to the finish.

My first thought was this has a lager like grain quality in the aroma, poured an off orange to brown w/ some light cloudyness and a nice off white head w/ thick sticky lacing. The follow up aroma was an almost bitter musty piney aroma a light sweet quality that made me think earthy, I guess it could be the pumpkin, but w/ out the knowledge of it I wouldn’t have said that. Palate is highly carbonated of average body with a lingering stickiness. The flavor is a bit disappointing and not quite right. The long lingering piney bitterness is slightly unpleasant in the aftertaste not much more than that wet musty piney hop flavor dominating something that I really can’t say much about. I wouldn’t drink this again.

Not what I expected for a pumpkin/autumn seasonal brew. Great amber color with a nice head. Strong hoppy aroma and flavor to follow. More IPA than anything. Could not taste pumpkin, or anything that resembled it. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Amber in color with a thick creamy beige head. Aroma is of pine, resin, light must, leaves, light squash. Taste is of herbal hops, resin, with pumpkin, dirt and pine in the finish.

Had on-tap at the Portsmouth Brewery. A pumpkin IPA? How intriguing! It’s a rustic deep copper showcasing a cloudy off-tan head, two girls’ fingers in length. Reminds me particularly of an unsweet, spiced iced tea with an sidelined alcohol kick.

Can at World Of Beer. Pours a clear orange color with a medium frothy white head that burns away steadily. Small patches of lacing. Aroma of citrus and grassy hops. Medium body with a moderately bitter hops character and notes of citrus and spice. The finish is hoppy with a short bitter aftertaste. Decent overall.

Can. Grapefruit and herbal hops and vegetal malt aroma. Amber with a small ivory head, moderate lacing. Vegetal malt, grapeftuit peel, and metallic herbal hops flavor. Medium body and carbonation. I found the hops a little on the harsh side, but to be fair, I just had a Surly Wet yesterday.

16 oz can into a tulip glass. Best Before December 30, 2012. A - Pours a clear light brown body with a fluffy two finger white head. Very dense and thick with great lacing ad retention. S - Piney and resinous hops, light spice, caramel malts. T - Piney and oily hops lead into smooth caramel malt. Light spice presence with a slight mineral finish and lasting bitterness. Pumpkins? Nope. Mouth feel is slickand medium bodied. O - A confusing but tasty beer. Somewhere in between a wet hopped ale and a spiced autumn beer, this one oddly works.

Draft at madmen state college. Pours orange with a thn white head that leaves some lacing. Nice floral and citrus notes on the nose. Vibrant and fresh hop flavor on the tongue but there some malt there as well to balance. Very drinkable. This one’s growing on me.
