JohnQPublic (162), Brooklyn, New York, USA Aug 16, 2008 Draught @ Beer Table. Pours dark amber with a healthy, creamy light tan head. Nose is candy sweet, resiny hops, a bit of spicy yeast. Taste is candy sugar and pale malt sweetness, a bit of zesty yeast spiciness, and a resiny, piny hop character that emerges about midway through and sits on top of the malty sweetness without dominating. Well balanced and drinkable, finish is dry and slightly resiny, with a bit of residual spicy yeast. Mouthfeel is moderate carbonation, a bit creamy, medium-full bodied. Well done and drinkable version of the style. JoeMcPhee (3692), Jackson Heights, New York, USA Dec 13, 2007 Tap at Stanton Publick House. Deep brown beer with a creamy tan head. Aroma is very spicy and zesty as well. Lemon/lime, clove, and rich spicy hops. A bit of resiny character. Noble zesty character over a soft pale malt sweetness. Lemony citrus, zesty herbal hops and a touch of orange flavour as well. Excellent palate, spicy yeast, sweet fresh hops and a lingering fresh herbal character. Great spicy flavour with excellent integration of hops and yeast. Lean spicy/minerally bitterness. An excellent interpretation of the style. bu11zeye (3656), Frisco, Texas, USA Nov 8, 2007 (Draught) Pours a hazy amber body with a medium off-white head. Aroma of spruce, caramel, cherry, coriander, and citrus. Flavor of spruce hoppiness, caramel malt, and Belgian yeast. sheatripper (809), Brooklyn, New York, USA Nov 2, 2007 From a Bierkraft growler. Hazy amber/orange with a frothy cream colored head. Spottly lacing. Sweet cookie dough aroma with floral hop and dusty notes. Biscuity and honeyed malts with a Sixpoint dosage of grapefruity hops pushing back. Has a bit of a silty and grassy flavor underneath. Lively carbonation. Not a whole lot of complexity for a "Belgian," but still enjoyable. golubj (990), Redwood City, California, USA Nov 1, 2007 Draft at the Blind Tiger. Dark orange / caramel coloring with a pleasant head. Lots of grapefruit aroma and some pine. It lacked "belgian" character, but was still good. Mostly just seemed like an IPA.
