Sixpoint Bengali Tiger is reminiscent of the century-old English IPA. In my perspective, many current IPAs suffer from lacking substance; unbalanced by a hoppy assertiveness that is not substantiated by a strong foundation of rich malt flavors. Our interpretation uses the highest-quality, floor-malted base malt, which lends a full-bodied and rich caramel flavor. We mash at high temperatures and add generous amounts of specialty malts to further emphasize a strong foundation of malt as leverage for our generous additions of hopsÖ Which are indeed generous. We use a total of three different hop strains, and add a total of six different additions throughout the process. The Bengali Tiger has a hoppy snap upfront, but strides at a steady pace, and finishes balanced. The signature characteristic of the Tiger is the aromaÖ we use massive quantities of whole East Kent Goldings hops to dry hop in our conditioning tanks. The result? The essential oils from the hops are an enticing treat before every sip. Notice the lacing of stripes around the pint glass as you finish your glass; itís the mark of the Tiger.

Hazy copper with a big tight head. Aroma of peach and pine, some tropical notes. Taste bitter and crisp, but with a metallic edge. Firm bitterness the whole way through. Overall pretty nice IPA

Really like this brew, and love its complexity and the hoppy overall taste, which is balanced by the malt. Can from JDW Lancaster poured with a slightly cloudy appearance when held up to the light, and a fairly brisk off-white head. Initial feeling of hops, followed by a malty mid, and a quite long balanced finish.

Can at the Old Swan Inne (JDW), Evesham. Had thoroughly enjoyed the version of this beer made at Adnams, and also their Sweet Action beer, so was looking forward to this. It poured light amber with a large off-white head and a light fizz. Light peach and pine smell- less strong aroma than Iíd expect from a modern IPA. The initial taste is rather metallic, although with further tasting the metal does subside. Itís as bitter as youíd expect, but as with the aroma the flavours are rather subdued- pine, grapefruit and peach struggle through in a rather half-hearted manner. The mouthfeel is a little thin too. Itís drinkable, yes, itís OK, but itís very disappointing.

A beautiful bright gold with a hint of orange. Nice and thick, bright white head. Beautiful citrus and tropical aromas, can also catch a hint of pine. Delicate but prominent, excellence. Not a lot of the citrus translates into the taste, actually a fair bit more malt than I expected. A fair amount of bitterness, but it doesnít linger, as a result the finish is quite clean for the style but overall the beer is well balanced. Not as dense as I like my IPAs - but the good level of carbonation makes this quite sessionable.

Golden colour. Some citrusy hop tones try to break through the oily, piney resinous aroma. Quite syrupy, oily, bitter. Lots of bitter citrus peel. Thereís a nice background malty flavour but itís a bit overpowered from the strong piney bitterness.

Has a citrusy, herby aroma but the clear light brown appearance may be Bengaliís greatest asset. Itís pretty darn nice. Thin, oily texture with a surprisingly abrupt finish. Iím not a big IPA fan but was surprised and pleased by the medium bitter taste of this brew - the second from Sixpoint after Sweet Action - which I totally forgot to review (and would give a higher rating).
