Sixpoint Bengali Tiger is reminiscent of the century-old English IPA. In my perspective, many current IPAs suffer from lacking substance; unbalanced by a hoppy assertiveness that is not substantiated by a strong foundation of rich malt flavors. Our interpretation uses the highest-quality, floor-malted base malt, which lends a full-bodied and rich caramel flavor. We mash at high temperatures and add generous amounts of specialty malts to further emphasize a strong foundation of malt as leverage for our generous additions of hops… Which are indeed generous. We use a total of three different hop strains, and add a total of six different additions throughout the process. The Bengali Tiger has a hoppy snap upfront, but strides at a steady pace, and finishes balanced. The signature characteristic of the Tiger is the aroma… we use massive quantities of whole East Kent Goldings hops to dry hop in our conditioning tanks. The result? The essential oils from the hops are an enticing treat before every sip. Notice the lacing of stripes around the pint glass as you finish your glass; it’s the mark of the Tiger.

Beautiful orange-golden pour with perfect clarity, white head, great lacing. Nose is earthy, herbaceous, and lightly citric. Flavor is the same on the hops side with some biscuit and honey sweetness supporting. Very equal balance between sweetness and bitterness, finish is initially mildly bitter and then very dry and clean. Super approachable, focused, and unique.

Oh East Coast IPAs. It has been a while. That is a shame. So wonderful. Strong and oily with plenty of heavy tropical fruit all over it. Such a gorgeous fat texture too. I just think this is a lovely beer.

12oz can. Pours a sparkling amber color with creamy off-white head. Predominantly citrusy hoppy notes, touch of pine in there as well. Mellow grapefruit hoppy flavor, quite easy on the palate. Smooth finish. Very tasty and quaffable.

Hazy golden with a thin foamy white head. Big tangerine and grapefruit nose with pleasant pine resin and a bit of caramel. Nice flavorful body with a little caramel with some pine resin and a wee touch of orange/grapefruit rind. A little faint of heart but flavorful.

Golden crispy pour with a decent white head. Pine, orange peel, lemon, caramel, grass and cat pee. Nicely balanced and refreshing.

This is a very satisfying IPA. Good bitterness. Great aroma. Spicy on tongue. Fruity and bitter with zest and mango notes. I have to come back to this one.

Bra.

Weird shaped 710 ml can. Pours amber, good head. Nice lacing. Aroma of sweet malt, hop aroma in the EKG-Fuggles arena. These hops are never punchy in my experience brewing with them for many years and they are not punchy here, but well integrated in with the sweet malt. Bitterness at the end lets you know that this has higher IBUs. Pretty good ... nice drinkable beer, at 6.5% the alcohol is very well hidden. Smooth and refined beer but quite a departure from the American IPA style (this is the British IPA style). I like this more as it warms up ... the floral aspects of the EKGs and woody Fuggles become more apparent. The sweet malt stays at the forefront. Maybe this is why British drink warm beer (not because Lucas makes refrigerators).
