Sixpoint Bengali Tiger is reminiscent of the century-old English IPA. In my perspective, many current IPAs suffer from lacking substance; unbalanced by a hoppy assertiveness that is not substantiated by a strong foundation of rich malt flavors. Our interpretation uses the highest-quality, floor-malted base malt, which lends a full-bodied and rich caramel flavor. We mash at high temperatures and add generous amounts of specialty malts to further emphasize a strong foundation of malt as leverage for our generous additions of hopsÖ Which are indeed generous. We use a total of three different hop strains, and add a total of six different additions throughout the process. The Bengali Tiger has a hoppy snap upfront, but strides at a steady pace, and finishes balanced. The signature characteristic of the Tiger is the aromaÖ we use massive quantities of whole East Kent Goldings hops to dry hop in our conditioning tanks. The result? The essential oils from the hops are an enticing treat before every sip. Notice the lacing of stripes around the pint glass as you finish your glass; itís the mark of the Tiger.

Can, at home, of course in the dining room!
Pours a hazy deep golden color with a very big head and some nice lacing on the glass.

The flavor is nicely pungently hoppy... in a leafy & mildly fruity way. There is a bit of malt in there in a sort of toasty on caramel way, but mostly the aroma is way hop forward.

The flavor is again, dominantly hoppy. Itís got that raw hop thing happening, which I donít like.... but itís got a bunch more nice things like leafy and grassy hops with some light citrus fruit. Again, the malt is a thing in the flavor here, but itís not there in any over-sweet or annoying way. There is some toast & some toffee, but they play way in the background to the (surprisingly) pleasant hop character. On the dry to sweet scale this one hits medium about as well as I can imagine any beer being.

Really, for something admitting to be an "English IPA" this is about as good as it gets... this means nothing against IPAs brewed in the UK, just I generally donít care for US brewed beers that claim themselves English-Style interpretations of IPA.

3oz sample at Cerveza Mexico 2015. Clear golden with a frothy offwhite head. Floral hoppy aromas with hints of resin and caramel. Medium bodied with moderate carbonation. Sweet and bitter. Well balanced with a dry and heavy hoppy and bitter finish. Hoppy and pleasant. Very standard.

Can acquired in at trade. Mild bitterness, tropical fruits, little bit pine, well balanced. I like my IPAs more extreme honestly.

Super skinny 12oz can from the Malt Shoppe. Orangey pour. Some white-ish lace. Aroma has pine, pineapple and toffee. Taste is of sweet toffee, tangy pine and some citrus-y pineapple. Soft bready malts underneath with some chewy resin finish this off. Medium bodied with little alcohol presence. Finishes sweetly tangy. This one hit a bunch of checkboxes, and was solid, but didnít love. 13.8
