Sixpoint Bengali Tiger is reminiscent of the century-old English IPA. In my perspective, many current IPAs suffer from lacking substance; unbalanced by a hoppy assertiveness that is not substantiated by a strong foundation of rich malt flavors. Our interpretation uses the highest-quality, floor-malted base malt, which lends a full-bodied and rich caramel flavor. We mash at high temperatures and add generous amounts of specialty malts to further emphasize a strong foundation of malt as leverage for our generous additions of hops… Which are indeed generous. We use a total of three different hop strains, and add a total of six different additions throughout the process. The Bengali Tiger has a hoppy snap upfront, but strides at a steady pace, and finishes balanced. The signature characteristic of the Tiger is the aroma… we use massive quantities of whole East Kent Goldings hops to dry hop in our conditioning tanks. The result? The essential oils from the hops are an enticing treat before every sip. Notice the lacing of stripes around the pint glass as you finish your glass; it’s the mark of the Tiger.

Can in Wetherspoon’s Coventry. Poured with a good white head, aroma of citrus and honey. Taste smooth and malty with a generous though not overdone hop finish, floral & grassy. The best beer I’ve ever had from a can.

Can from a mix 6-pack from Binny’s South Loop. Served on a plastic pilsner glass. A deep gold with a big fluffy head. It has a really nice nose of fruity hops. The taste is sweet at first then mellows into a solid clean bitterness. Not so exciting but a well made IPA nevertheless.

Can from Royal Hop Pole Twekesbury. Deep golden colour with thick white head. Aroma has plenty of hops and so does the taste. It has some bite, and is maybe a touch to sharp for my taste.

Can to shaker glass. Pours hazy orange amber. Two finger head, loads of lacing. Aroma is earthy, grass, herbs and a touch of orange peel. Taste is very balanced between the sweetness of the malts and the old world hops -caramel and bitter almond. Highly carbonated, medium body, slightly soapy mouth feel. Finishes on the bitter side with notes of tangerine, pine nut, resin with caramel underlining. Very nice for the old world style of IPAs.

Can in weatherspoons Birmingham. Pours marmalade murky orange with wispy white head. Nose is spruce, pine, citrus, spice, forrest. Caramel biscuit sweet flavour with medicinal Strawberry. A strong dry bitterness finish. Grassy treacle aftertaste. Slick mouthfeel. Carbonation lifts the malt and therefore is not too syrupy. Lovely.

Hazy pale amber, fluffy white head with slightly metallic mandarins aroma. Moderate body and carbonation, juicy citrus but a tad cardboardy malt wise.

On tap at The Knick. Mild fruity floral aromas, light pine and dankness. No sweetness. A little vegetal. Medium golden amber hazy with creamy white lacing head. Medium body with medium-high carbonation. Starts dry. Orange peel. Big hop bitterness throughout. Mild sweet notes with big bitter finish and bitter dry after.
