Sixpoint Bengali Tiger is reminiscent of the century-old English IPA. In my perspective, many current IPAs suffer from lacking substance; unbalanced by a hoppy assertiveness that is not substantiated by a strong foundation of rich malt flavors. Our interpretation uses the highest-quality, floor-malted base malt, which lends a full-bodied and rich caramel flavor. We mash at high temperatures and add generous amounts of specialty malts to further emphasize a strong foundation of malt as leverage for our generous additions of hopsÖ Which are indeed generous. We use a total of three different hop strains, and add a total of six different additions throughout the process. The Bengali Tiger has a hoppy snap upfront, but strides at a steady pace, and finishes balanced. The signature characteristic of the Tiger is the aromaÖ we use massive quantities of whole East Kent Goldings hops to dry hop in our conditioning tanks. The result? The essential oils from the hops are an enticing treat before every sip. Notice the lacing of stripes around the pint glass as you finish your glass; itís the mark of the Tiger.

16 oz. can. Pours a cloudy amber/copper color with an off-white/tan that lingers. Aroma of caramel, malt and piney hops. Medium body. The malt an hops balance very well together the way a standard IPA should. Slight dry finish. Very good! ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Just picked up a can of this. It seems Sixpoint just started showimg up in Florida. The color is copper as this pours with a thick off-white head. The aroma shows caramel, toasted grains, and resinous hops. Definitely English IPA influence here with sturdy doughy and caramel malt flavor. Thereís a surprising amount of fruitiness to this that I didnít get from the aroma, like a trail, mix with dried fruit and perhaps nuts, too. Dry and bitter finish with some lingering toasted malt notes. Iím not a huge fan of the English IPA so Iím not sure how often Iíll get this but itís pretty well done.

Good IPA, but the taste doesn't match the great smell. Not a hop bomb, more malty like an English style IPA. I'd buy again, but would choose Resin if both are on the shelf. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Already a fan of Sixpoint here. Aromas were soft and citrusy with hints of bitter crass and dank hops. The English hops really shine through in this brew in an unusually session-able way. Nice job done here. My ONLY complaint is that it wasnít really that hoppy for an IPA.

A refreshing IPA. Amber appearance with hint yellow. Generous head that thins quickly with not much lacing. The flavor is hoppy but not as much as some other offerings but that's ok since it allows for me a crisp malty fruit subtlety to come through. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

16oz can. Rating #544. Clear amber/orange color with a sticky white head. Dank and malty with a little pine. Light hop flavor with a little more dankness and a bitter aftertaste. A little too malty for my tastes. (2838)

Cool beer. Thanks, Harold. Nose is grassy and full of pine and citrus. Light pale and caramel malt aroma. Pour is dark orange. Taste is sweet malts up front that dries out leaving bitter pine tree hops on the finish. Nice.

Aroma: (6- Above average) Moderate grapefruit, pine with caramel malts, white sugar- pretty sweet. Appearance: (4- High quality) Translucent copper pour with sticky bone head, good lacing. Flavor: (5- Average) Thought the malts were too dominant here, and sweet overall. Hops express more pine than grapefruit. Palate: (3- Average) Medium body, creamy texture, soft carbonation, abrupt finish. Overall: Really pretty underwhelming and a little unpleasant.

Can (16 oz). Clear dark golden with a huge frothy off-white head and intense lacing. Aroma of English hops, earthy notes, caramel/malt, citrus and pine. Taste is moderately sweet with English hops, earthy notes, caramel, pine, citrus and light bitterness. Medium body. Moderate carbonation. Dusty mouthfeel. Iím not a fan of IPA with English hops and/or malty/caramel IPA. This one use English hops and is malty. Despite this, itís still a decent beer. Not really refreshing though.
