COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Sixpoint Bengali Tiger is reminiscent of the century-old English IPA. In my perspective, many current IPAs suffer from lacking substance; unbalanced by a hoppy assertiveness that is not substantiated by a strong foundation of rich malt flavors. Our interpretation uses the highest-quality, floor-malted base malt, which lends a full-bodied and rich caramel flavor. We mash at high temperatures and add generous amounts of specialty malts to further emphasize a strong foundation of malt as leverage for our generous additions of hops… Which are indeed generous. We use a total of three different hop strains, and add a total of six different additions throughout the process. The Bengali Tiger has a hoppy snap upfront, but strides at a steady pace, and finishes balanced. The signature characteristic of the Tiger is the aroma… we use massive quantities of whole East Kent Goldings hops to dry hop in our conditioning tanks. The result? The essential oils from the hops are an enticing treat before every sip. Notice the lacing of stripes around the pint glass as you finish your glass; it’s the mark of the Tiger.

On tap at Capone’s. Poured a medium and cloudy orangish color with smaller sized off white head. Aromas of floral hops, earthiness, and some citrus. Tastes of pine, floral hops, and citrus. Citrus rinds. Medium bitter finish.

Cloudy orange medium bodied English style IPA. Simple, yet evenly balanced between citrus hops and caramel malts. Sixpoint picked the right beer to can in a tall boy.

For an English style IPA i suppose this one hits the mark. For me it’s not quite my style, i like the hops to punch me in the face with the aroma and taste and this doesn’t quite hit the mark. It is quite drinkable though. I love the color and there is nice lacing on the glass as i work my way through it.

16 oz. can (my first canned craft) into a tulip. Good-looking orange-amber with a fluffy off-white head. Nose includes mostly piney hops, some citrus underneath, a little hay, and caramel. Taste is interesting...the sweetness and bitterness hit at different points throughout the sip. Palate is fairly thin with a crisp, lingering bitter finish. Not a lot of "oomph," but as an English style IPA, that makes sense. I still dig the big northwest-style hops more, though, so this isn’t my thing.

Draft. The hop aroma finishes with a malt kick. Appearance was a cloudy amber with a decent head that disappeared. Zero lacing. The light to medium palate had a round sticky textured finish. The taste was at first a sweet hop with an almost honey note that then revealed itself to have a touch of malt molasses. The taste fell flat at the end with a very dull muted aftertaste. There was a general "watery" feel to the palate that really threw me off. By the end of the glass, I ended up not really favoring this beer due to the "watery" experience. ---Rated via Beer Buddy by rsully

Orange, opaque and wheaty looking. No real smell. Super hoppy, almost overpowering, then mellows to a sweet, malty aftertaste.

Orange-tinged bronze, with decent flush head. Sharply metallic grapefruit note punctures the olfactory sense. Some dankness also makes itself known. The body leans toward the thin side and is decidedly bitter and tinctured with ripe, wet grapefruit. A deeply bitter, one-note IPA, that is more for the grapefruit lovers and Greyhound drinkers. Far too astringent for me.
