Sixpoint Bengali Tiger is reminiscent of the century-old English IPA. In my perspective, many current IPAs suffer from lacking substance; unbalanced by a hoppy assertiveness that is not substantiated by a strong foundation of rich malt flavors. Our interpretation uses the highest-quality, floor-malted base malt, which lends a full-bodied and rich caramel flavor. We mash at high temperatures and add generous amounts of specialty malts to further emphasize a strong foundation of malt as leverage for our generous additions of hops… Which are indeed generous. We use a total of three different hop strains, and add a total of six different additions throughout the process. The Bengali Tiger has a hoppy snap upfront, but strides at a steady pace, and finishes balanced. The signature characteristic of the Tiger is the aroma… we use massive quantities of whole East Kent Goldings hops to dry hop in our conditioning tanks. The result? The essential oils from the hops are an enticing treat before every sip. Notice the lacing of stripes around the pint glass as you finish your glass; it’s the mark of the Tiger.

Pours a slightly hazy deep amber color with medium white head. Grapefruity aroma, orange, resin and pine. Taste follows the aroma, citrusy, orangey and grapefruity, also resin, pine and a very balancing bready backbone. Bitter aftertaste.

Orange pour with clinging off white head. Aroma is bready malt and floral hops. Flavor is lightly sweet malt with some perfumy hops. Medium body with good carbonation along with a hard bitter finish. A muddled mess of hops to me?

Having Bengali Tiger at The Growler in NYC was a totally delightful way to be introduced to Sixpoint. Copper gold coloring with some haze. Balanced aroma with bright, citrusy hops and toasted malts. I feel the flavors would delight all but those who are strictly hop-averse. Marmalade, orange cream, and honey. There’s a wet, crisp hop note but the bitterness is takes a back seat to juicy, candy-like notes. Oily and moderately viscous feel. Excellent stuff.

On draft at Tap 25. It pours a clear orange color with an off white head. The aroma is flowery with light citrus and hints of peach. The flavor is pleasant enough with white peach and flowers. There’s some substantial bready malts in here too. Full bodied with strong floral bitterness. Ok.

Espuma cremosa, bastante persistente y adherente.

Can at a tasting. Solid sweetish malty base, burnt sugar, very light alcohol. Moderate to high bitterness and hops aromatics, fruity, orange, slightly earthy and flowery. Overall hops centered but with big initial sweetness which eventually steps back. Very good.

Can at tasting. Clear golden copper colour. Aroma is fresh, malty sweet with hint of citrus and grass. The taste is sweet honey ending in a nice hoppy bitterness.
