Sixpoint Bengali Tiger is reminiscent of the century-old English IPA. In my perspective, many current IPAs suffer from lacking substance; unbalanced by a hoppy assertiveness that is not substantiated by a strong foundation of rich malt flavors. Our interpretation uses the highest-quality, floor-malted base malt, which lends a full-bodied and rich caramel flavor. We mash at high temperatures and add generous amounts of specialty malts to further emphasize a strong foundation of malt as leverage for our generous additions of hops… Which are indeed generous. We use a total of three different hop strains, and add a total of six different additions throughout the process. The Bengali Tiger has a hoppy snap upfront, but strides at a steady pace, and finishes balanced. The signature characteristic of the Tiger is the aroma… we use massive quantities of whole East Kent Goldings hops to dry hop in our conditioning tanks. The result? The essential oils from the hops are an enticing treat before every sip. Notice the lacing of stripes around the pint glass as you finish your glass; it’s the mark of the Tiger.

8.4.2014. Hazy orange, quite lasting dense head. Fresh fruits, citrus, exotic fruits in nose. Carbonated, medium bodied. Exotic sweet fruits turning into crips hops and long dry finish. Also pineapple, great.

Pours a redish orange color with thin, no lave head. Nose is very citrus fruits and grass heavy. There are hops and orange peel on second smell. Taste is dry and finishes bitter. It pulls moisture from the tongue, leaving almost a refreshing aftertaste. Grass, apricot, hops. A solid offering for sure.

This is a pretty nice IPA, it just combines hops that you don?t necessarily expect. It?s a bit more biscuit than say a Stone IPA. Big grapefruit, soda carb, soapy lacing, slight ice cream hop.

Nice, well-balanced IPA. Good citrus, and some decent malt backbone. Pours orange with good head and lacing. Light bitter finish. Tap at some bar in D.C. after a concert the other day.

Pours a coppery orange, lacy white head. Aroma is citrus, grapefruit, toast and caramel malts. Taste is lightly floral, citrusy hops. Lots of caramel, toasty malts. I can appreciate the balance, but I’m more of a fan of west coast style IPAs. Medium heavy mouthfeel, medium carbonation. Good for a change of pace with IPAs, but not going to become one of my go to IPAs

12oz can. Appearance: Crystal clear golden with a moderate white foam head. Aroma: Typical citrus and resinous hop, with a bit of herbal, earthy notes. Taste: Rich crystal malt sweetness with a sharp but balanced bitterness. Malt base makes this beer more balanced than a typical American IPA. Mouthfeel: Medium body, slightly higher than a typical IPA, with moderate carbonation. Finish: Well balanced malt/bitter finish that leaves more of a citrusy/herbal finish than true bitterness. Overall: This beer seems to be a balance of American and English IPAs. Citrus and pine resin aromas dominate, but overall shows the balance and finish of an English IPA. Has more malt character than a west coast IPA that leads to a well rounded IPA
