Sixpoint Bengali Tiger is reminiscent of the century-old English IPA. In my perspective, many current IPAs suffer from lacking substance; unbalanced by a hoppy assertiveness that is not substantiated by a strong foundation of rich malt flavors. Our interpretation uses the highest-quality, floor-malted base malt, which lends a full-bodied and rich caramel flavor. We mash at high temperatures and add generous amounts of specialty malts to further emphasize a strong foundation of malt as leverage for our generous additions of hopsÖ Which are indeed generous. We use a total of three different hop strains, and add a total of six different additions throughout the process. The Bengali Tiger has a hoppy snap upfront, but strides at a steady pace, and finishes balanced. The signature characteristic of the Tiger is the aromaÖ we use massive quantities of whole East Kent Goldings hops to dry hop in our conditioning tanks. The result? The essential oils from the hops are an enticing treat before every sip. Notice the lacing of stripes around the pint glass as you finish your glass; itís the mark of the Tiger.

Tasted from can at Standard Market, Westmont. While most Americaqn versions are copper or gold in color, this one is back to a lighter gold. Indeed, the malts are on an equal footing with the hops. Despite the use of English hops, I still get some nice citrusy notes. Iím also starting to notice the increased level of alcohol, however slight. Makes me want to take it in all the more.

Draft at JFK airport, 10:30am. Nothing wrong with that, right? Big rich IPA with lots of delicious malt and a nice hop balance that's not too overpowering but still delivers a good flavor. A solid IPA. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

12 OZ."dynamite stick" can from BoomBox pack into a tulip glass. Best by (my adjustment) 2/10/2016. A: Big 3 finger beige head atop medium burnt gold body. very good clarity and head retention. A few rising bubbles. Patchy lacing. Very nice looking. S: Earthy smell from the can. Once poured, light orange is noticed and also a light caramel sweetness. Surprisingly light aroma but the beer is very cold. T: Toast and a cardboardy malt flavor. Noticeable booze and bitter orange pith follow. A little juiciness on the finish is the nicest aspect of the taste. Just slightly boozy. M: Weighty side of medium bodied. Active carbonation tingle.Surprisingly clean finish does have a bit of coating oiliness. O: Admittedly not my favorite style due to the strength but a tasty ale. Not one Iíd seek but glad Iíve now tried another Sixpoint product. I look forward to trying all I can find.

355ml can served in a pint glass. Pours a clear orange color forming a medium, creamy, solid and persistent white head that forms lots of soapy lingering lacings in the glass. Very flowery nose. Strong notes of pale malts, caramel, crystal malts and citrus fruits. Quite grassy too. Slightly sweet upfront taste becoming quickly dry and bitter. Strong notes of sweet pale malts in the mouth too. Grassy hops. Great and persistent hops bitterness. Strong notes of grapefruit. Medium body. Average carbonation. Persistent citrus and grassy aftertaste. Very good drinkability. Great American IPA.

Can, at home, of course in the dining room!
Pours a hazy deep golden color with a very big head and some nice lacing on the glass.

The flavor is nicely pungently hoppy... in a leafy & mildly fruity way. There is a bit of malt in there in a sort of toasty on caramel way, but mostly the aroma is way hop forward.

The flavor is again, dominantly hoppy. Itís got that raw hop thing happening, which I donít like.... but itís got a bunch more nice things like leafy and grassy hops with some light citrus fruit. Again, the malt is a thing in the flavor here, but itís not there in any over-sweet or annoying way. There is some toast & some toffee, but they play way in the background to the (surprisingly) pleasant hop character. On the dry to sweet scale this one hits medium about as well as I can imagine any beer being.

Really, for something admitting to be an "English IPA" this is about as good as it gets... this means nothing against IPAs brewed in the UK, just I generally donít care for US brewed beers that claim themselves English-Style interpretations of IPA.
