COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Sixpoint Bengali Tiger is reminiscent of the century-old English IPA. In my perspective, many current IPAs suffer from lacking substance; unbalanced by a hoppy assertiveness that is not substantiated by a strong foundation of rich malt flavors. Our interpretation uses the highest-quality, floor-malted base malt, which lends a full-bodied and rich caramel flavor. We mash at high temperatures and add generous amounts of specialty malts to further emphasize a strong foundation of malt as leverage for our generous additions of hops… Which are indeed generous. We use a total of three different hop strains, and add a total of six different additions throughout the process. The Bengali Tiger has a hoppy snap upfront, but strides at a steady pace, and finishes balanced. The signature characteristic of the Tiger is the aroma… we use massive quantities of whole East Kent Goldings hops to dry hop in our conditioning tanks. The result? The essential oils from the hops are an enticing treat before every sip. Notice the lacing of stripes around the pint glass as you finish your glass; it’s the mark of the Tiger.

On tap at Rattle N Hum. Pours a hazy shade of orange with an off-white head. Smells and tastes of apricot, waxy grapefruit, and mild hops. Decent.

12 oz can thanks to Mg228. Thanks Mark! The pour is a deep orangey hold with a voluminous white head and some great lacing. It fades down to about an eighth inch thick layer of foam. The aroma has got a great citrus note to it, and a good piney resin. There is a little metallic note on the back end. The flavor is more metallic and resiny. There is a light fruit presence but the resin really takes over. The mouth feel is solid, with a good carbonation to help the body and the aftertaste is resin and lingering. Can. Nose of biscuity malt, orange, tropical fruits, grass. Orange-golden color with a frothy head. Sweet in the front, citrus, biscuits, tropical fruits, then very bitter. A bit heavy. Good.

Can at Wetherspoon Gatwick. Pours hazy orange with white head. Aroma is very fruity with mango, citrus, grapefruit, pine and some malt. Taste is light to medium sweet, medium bitter, fruity mango grapefruit citrus flavours, some malt. Aftertaste is bitter, rather soft carbonation, fruity, bit spicy. Very good IPA. Well balanced and drinkable.

Can in Wetherspoon’s Coventry. Poured with a good white head, aroma of citrus and honey. Taste smooth and malty with a generous though not overdone hop finish, floral & grassy. The best beer I’ve ever had from a can.

Can from a mix 6-pack from Binny’s South Loop. Served on a plastic pilsner glass. A deep gold with a big fluffy head. It has a really nice nose of fruity hops. The taste is sweet at first then mellows into a solid clean bitterness. Not so exciting but a well made IPA nevertheless.

Can from Royal Hop Pole Twekesbury. Deep golden colour with thick white head. Aroma has plenty of hops and so does the taste. It has some bite, and is maybe a touch to sharp for my taste.

Can to shaker glass. Pours hazy orange amber. Two finger head, loads of lacing. Aroma is earthy, grass, herbs and a touch of orange peel. Taste is very balanced between the sweetness of the malts and the old world hops -caramel and bitter almond. Highly carbonated, medium body, slightly soapy mouth feel. Finishes on the bitter side with notes of tangerine, pine nut, resin with caramel underlining. Very nice for the old world style of IPAs.

Can in weatherspoons Birmingham. Pours marmalade murky orange with wispy white head. Nose is spruce, pine, citrus, spice, forrest. Caramel biscuit sweet flavour with medicinal Strawberry. A strong dry bitterness finish. Grassy treacle aftertaste. Slick mouthfeel. Carbonation lifts the malt and therefore is not too syrupy. Lovely.
