4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
750ml batch 74 bottle 592. Pours medium dark with little to no head. Amazing aroma of burnt sugars and some coffee/mocha. Pallet was spot on hints of citrus up front, smooth with chocolate roast through the mid and finishes creamy. Not bad considering its an 05, the body level has managed to stay mid to full. I’ll see where the other two bottles I have take me someday.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Oxidized dark malts on the nose. Soy, some dark smoke/burt notes. Dark chocolate cakey notes. Black pour tan head turns into a ring. Dark as fuck. Nice sweet roasty and smokey flavors. Dry and sweet but not full of over the top residual sugars,
Oxidized, but flavorful. Mellowed to an awesomness. Really solid sweet/dry. Good shit.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Thanks to Alex for pulling this bottle out at Mike’s bachelor-party tasting. Served in a Savor snifter.
Pours dark brown with a fairly-massive mocha-colored head and a nice bit of light lacing as it goes down. The nose brings some chocolate and roast, bordering on Whoppers candy. Behind that, I got a bit of light cherry-skin character and red and black licorice. Also, a bit of light brown-paper character toward the end.
The flavor brings a lot of malted chocolate as well as a faint roast character. The mouthfeel helps this one along--medium body that brings forward a creamy and smooth brew. The finish is somewhat dry and is definitely lacking in booziness. I seemed to be in the minority not really digging this one, but it had a lot of interesting components and was something I had wanted to try for quite awhile now.

3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Thanks to Alex for sharing one of his rare whale bif beers. Unlabled poured into a snifter...Light black pour with, a nice tan head pops up but it fades to fast to a half finger cap, light lacing...A light aroma that displays a slight sourness, is this a little infected? Lots of malt chocolate, cocoa, a little brine character...The taste is really roasty, surprised, where’d that come from? Bitter chocolate, caramel, a slight metallic finish...This is by no means bad, a couple faults to me, but I’d drink it again. I probably liked it the least of the group, but what do I know.

Sampled from the tap at EBF. Poured near black with a brown head that dissipated to the edges and remained there. Aroma was full of creamy chocolate, roasted malts and a bit of a nutty note as well as coffee. Flavor had a chocolate note with a growing nuttiness and some roasted malts. Nice and creamy on tongue.
