3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
I love the detailed description of this beer, and I think they achieved what they were going for. Notes of bread, bitterness from the roasted malts, some caramel, and chocolate. A lot of stout & porter character. Not as nutty or as sweet as many brown ales. Mild hop flavor.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Pours a nice brown color with off-white head. Roasted malt, caramel malt, chocolate, and a bit of sweetness on the nose; follows onto the palate. Finishes very clean for a brown ale.

4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
This beerís 225th rating, my personal US rating #2222. Pint can and I think this one is a best before April of last year, so grains of salt. Nose is nicely hoppy with light tang and fruit, somewhat earthy, and itís got nice, traditional Bitter overtones all around. Pours tawny red-amber, dusky with slow and average carbonation, a dense and rocky beige head that sticks. Taste is semi-dry but with significant tanginess (no infection, though). Low bitterness, light crystal malt, brown sugar and strong toasted malt character that is very nice. Generic fruitiness in the background, some citrus and very light pine, very light roast with lighter nuttiness and light toffee. Light body a bit watery but has an occasional rush of creamy air from the bulbous head. I like this a ton, and even if itís changed its essence after a year-plus of storage, it still has really enjoyable session flavor (no alcohol here!) and would be a great substitute for a Bitter.

16oz can. Medium brown color. Roasted malts, deeply toasted grains. Flavor is sweet malt, burnt toasted bread. Harsh bitterness in the finish. Way better than Newcastle Brown Ale. (3989)

Hazy brown color with average head and body. Malt made very modest contribution. Hops were mild but pleasant.
