3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 jercraigs (6477) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - MAY 10, 2013
2013-04-29. Crisp dark brown black body, nice creamy tan head. 4+ Aroma is roasty but softened somehow, lightly dusty, mild malt undertones. Flavour is interesting, dry roast up front, sweetish malt middle has an interesting quality to it. Sort of nutty fruity herbal melange, pleasantly so. Smooth average plus to medium bodied palate, soft carbonation. 3++ Pretty solid overall. A stout with brown ale leanings? On tap at Farmhouse, Burlington
3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 scarletfire65 (734) - Rockaway Park, New York, USA - MAY 9, 2013
Can, at home. The aroma is hoppy, pine, coffee, roasted malts. This stout is bracingly bitter, resinous, sprucey - piney, with a bright, slightly acidic finish. Soft and creamy mouthfeel. Good, but a bit too much on the pine.
3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 Scipio (490) - Palatine, Illinois, USA - MAY 7, 2013
Pours a very dark brown with a medium, creamy looking tan head. Aroma contains chocolate and vanilla mostly, along with undertones of pine and coffee. The taste is more unusual for this style in the fact that a large amount of pine is noticed right away. I get more chocolate and coffee, and less vanilla. There is quite a bit of caramel in here as well as roasted malts. Medium bodied, creamy in texture, with a higher amount of carbonation that is regularly found in this style. Aftertaste consists of pine, coffee, and chocolate. I enjoyed this. Its a little different with a lot of tasty things going on in here.
3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 9/20 Beerenberger (789) - Fischer, Texas, USA - MAY 5, 2013
UPDATED: MAY 6, 2013 The nose has a toasty sweetness about it. Faint dark fruits (plums), chocolate, and pine. Pours a brownish-black with a long lasting khaki head and spotty lacing. The taste is bitter. Roasted/burnt malt, with hints of dried fruit, and hoppy pine bitter finish. Somewhat like a Black IPA. Medium-light body and moderate carbonation. (Would prefer a fuller body.) Smooth mouthfeel. Overall, the taste is not robust, but rather subdued. would drink again. (Taste improves as it gets warmer.)

Had it out of a big ol can. It seems like more of a black IPA style, very hoppy but with some malt poking through. Pretty good, would get it again.
