On tap at Horizon’s restaurant Philly; they always seem to have at least one Sixpoint beer on tap. Pours dark as midnight with one finger of thick head which eventually dissipates. Lots of lacing. Nose is of coffee... and some more coffee. Mouthfeel is thick but slightly dry. Taste is of coffee with some plums. This is a very creamy stout. The menu described it as an oatmeal stout and I’d guess this is correct due to the smooth and creamyness of the beer. This beer really grabs at your mouth as it’s soft and creamy yet dry and tingly at the end. It really lands right inbetween a regular stout and an imperial without being heavy or drenched in alcohol. I really liked it and would happily drink it again.

Growler sampled on 6/28/08: Pours a barely transparent dark mahogany with a wispy, clingy-lacing light tan head. Aroma of lightly sweet toasty dark caramel and milk chocolate with some light plum character. Body starts with decent fullness and effervescent carbonation along with lots of dark chocolate and a touch of roasty coffee in the finish. Pretty smooth and drinkable with good body.

Dark rich pour, love this one. Always a hefty body, nice roasted malts and cream. Aroma has some coffee and rich roasted malts. Flavor has coffee and bitter roasted malts with a nice finish.

On tap at House of Brews on 51st. Pours roasted black with a frothy tan head. Smells toasty with plenty of cocoa in the aroma. Tastes the same with a notable amoutn of hops in the flavor. Very smooth and balanced, which is to say I could drink a lot of this.

a great choice, i am constantly impressed by sixpoint. a nice offering and oh so smooth. decent and in proportion, a little sweet and a little bitter. roasted and malt give the beer the flavor and body and the amount of hops is a nice departure for a stout.

At Redbones, on tap. Opaque black with 1/2 inch light tan head and rings of lacing. Rich coffee and cocoa nose. Slightly tinny but inviting. Smoth, creamy, like an oatmeal stout in mouthfeel, which is excellent on this beer. Lovely body. No spikes. Totally smooth. Robust malt but never tastes burnt. Great stout!
