3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Can. Pours a very dark brown with a moderate tan head on it. Nose is slightly roasty with some surprising floral hoppy elements in there. Taste was slightly bitter, but nicely roasty. A very interesting stout...

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
16 ounce can. Pours a darker brown to black with a beige head. Aroma is grassy and roasty. Tastes fairly bitter. More hoppy than I prefer a stout to be.

4.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
THOUGHTS: Imperial stout bitterness in a lighter package. It was nearly a black IPA. Itís definitely still a stout, but if you like black IPAs, you should try it.
TECHNICAL: Can. Poured a very dark brown that was nearly black in the glass with a large, tan head that mostly but slowly diminished leaving excellent lacing. The aroma had moderate roast malt and chocolate milk; moderate pine hops; tobacco; and hints of caramel. The initial flavor was lightly sweet and moderately bitter; while the finish was lightly sweet and moderate to heavily bitter with an average to long duration. There was roasted malt, coffee, chocolate milk, bitter chocolate, coffee beans, pine hops and citrus rind hops, tobacco, a little citrus fruit, grapefruit and caramel malt. The medium body was creamy with sort of soft and slightly metallic finish.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 13/20
16 oz can courtesy of Doodler (thanks Scott) poured a clear dark reddish brown with a lasting tan head. Aromas of roastiness, charcoal, pine, earthiness and light grapefruit. Palate was medium bodied and crisp with a dry finish. Flavors of roasted malt, pine and light earthiness with a crisp dry bitter lingering roasty pine finish.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Pretty black but slightly reddish when held up to a bright light, with a decent head and sheets of thin but glass-coating lace.
Smell is more like that of a heavier imperial stout, heavy with syrupy dark fruits, some coffee and chocolate, some molasses and brown sugar, some roasted, some burnt characteristics. The taste somewhat follows but itís not as strong tasting as it is smelling. I would say that for me the taste is more appealing, actually. Itís more balanced on taste; the aroma is kinda on the too sweet, too much dark fruit side.
Drink wise itís very nice, a good stout thatís something of a meal, but isnít overpowering. I am a big fan of stouts in the 6%-ish range, and this one is pretty good. Overall I donít think itís world class, but Iíd certainly drink it again, and may have to try some of their other beers that I havenít tried yet.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Simple stout, but good. A bit too bitter for the style, as there is not malt middle to squash it. I love bitter, but this seems almost out of place. That being said, I like it, and Iím sticking with it.

4 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 20/20
Pours dark opaque brown-black mahogany with large coffee color head, foamy. Aroma- caramel malt and ryeish grass to hay hops. Taste is rye grass hop start, sweet mocha. Middle- smooth, bitter grassy end and long finish. I like the mix of malt and hops. Bitter finish long-lasting.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Solid atout. Drank from can so really canít talk about the pour or head. Visibly brown from lip if can. Nice hoppy aroma. Almost light enough to call it a black ipa coffee stout. Coffee and hipping come through prediminantly on the palate.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Dark brown, amber hints, thin toffee head. Nose is dark roasted malt, subtle pine and alcohol. Bittersweet in the truest sense. Middle is cacao and pine cones. Bitter, drying, piney hops out the back. Good.

Can. Chocolate malt and piney hops aroma... smells like a black IPA. Black brown with a huge thick, creamy tan head. Chocolate, roasty malt, and subtle piney hops flavor.... tastes like a black IPA. Medium body, soft carbonation. Smells, looks, tastes, and drinks like a black IPA.
