COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Lighter in color than your typical quadrupel; stronger in alcohol. Divine.

Dark amber-brown colour. Big toffee, fig and peach aroma. Surprisingly lightish in flavour, given the size of the brew. There are hints of caramel, a light plasticy note.. Clean, flavourful but not as dynamic as the aroma promised me.

Growler, thanks nimbleprop. Clear amber body with small white head. Aroma is moderately sweet, alcohol, molasses/caramel, Bourbon. Taste is moderately sweet, honey/molasses/caramel, some alcohol, cantaloupe. Medium-full body, low carbonation.

Thanks to wearelookingfortwinks138 for sharing this! Poured a medium and hazy amber color with a small szed off white head. Aromas of dark fruits, caramel, bananas, and some yeastiness. Tastes of dark fruits, light citrus, caramel, and spices.

Tap at Barcade. I never thought I’d see these old Sixpoint beers, but here one is. hazy deep orange-brown coloured brew. Very thick creamy persistent head. Aroma is immediately very rich and sweet. Toffee and caramel aroma, dried apricots, plums and a rich cherryish fruitiness. Some nice spicy hops are there in flavour and aroma, but the rich malts are what is really on display. Flavour is quite rich and fruity with some lovely figgy and lightly plummy fruitiness and a soft leathery character. There is a fairly fruity grapey/vineous component on the back of the beer. Fruity and spicy yeast, but not overly so. This treads the line between barleywine and quadrupel, but does so in such an elegant and understated way that it works. The years have been kind to this beer and I hope to see it again.

Any first impressions?
-A ring of head surrounds the shrouded placid orange.
-Biscuity malts, strawberries, and syrupy peaches surprise the nostrils.
-Fruity esters abound, offering cherries, cranberries, apples onto a mild caramel formation.
-Carbonation’s somewhat complacent, revealing the body’s relative frailness.

What if you dig deeper?
-Alcohol is well-hidden for that strong of an ale.
-Not that complex at all to my palate, and inferior to the quads I know.
-Watery passages are not appreciated by the liquorous malt sweetness.
-Reminded me of Founders Bad Habit Quad quite a bit; maybe just not my style of quadrupel.

Sampled at Extreme Beer Fest ’06.

UPDATED: SEP 17, 2005 Pours brown and tannish like the quads I am used to, but that is where the similarities end. A bit of a floral nose can be detected on this one as can some sweet strawberry like qualities. Tastes of salt water taffee, toffee, caramel and candy apples with an allspice and nutmeg finish. Good, but a bit forced.

Hazy dulled apricot in color, raising a shy off-white head. Strong fruitiness goes from pears to apricot, while the gently defined yeast brings forth date squares and French toast nuance. Supporting floral hops. Still fruity on the palate, appearing a bit thin for what it tries to be and not as complex as most, but lovers of high alcohol stuff will likely enjoy the show as the alcohol gains some importance with the liquid warming. Light-medium body with a rather oily edge and very soft carbonation that slowly becomes completely absent. Good.

On tap at The Ginger Man.Good mouthfeel and lacing. Yeasty aroma and yeasty sweet. Not a bad quad, but not the best I have had of the style.
