On tap at Champps in Brookfield. Dark brown pour with a beige head. Big chocolate nose with roast and caramel. Taste is of bakers chocolate, fudge and caramel. With roast showing through. Blend is well done, the body is medium-to-full and there is a bit of an alcohol presence. Finishes to the fudge-y sweet side of bittersweet. Tasty and solid for style. 14.6

Tap at sidedoor. Burgundy brown body. Steady creamy off white head. Massive coffee tones, almost too much really, but really has a quality coffee feel. Full bodied. Tasty, but hard to drink a lot of.

Draft @ Laser Wolf. Dark brown, lots of coffee on the nose. The taste is coffee with some fairly smooth, lightly chocolatey dark malts. Very coffeeish but clean, roasty and pretty good.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Growler from Whole Foods Plymouth Meeting. Pours a dead black/brown color. Good amount of frothy white head. Aroma is straight coffee. Mouthfeel is lighter than what Iíd expect, but then again, it is a porter, so itís probably dead on. Little carbonation. Taste is cocoa and cold brewed coffee. cold brewed, because there is very little bitterness to it. Reminded me of a dialed down version of Speedway Stout... which is a high complement. Damn good beer.

Intense coffee melds well with a base beer that leans towards roasty and dry. Well-made and clean but pretty simple.

Drinks above its weight. The wine noted in the coffee comes through quite strong and gives this porter an interesting character even if itís not one Iím crazy about. Different.

On tap at 28 Springs. Pours super dark brown to black. Aroma is coffee and roast. Lots of coffee on the flavor. And then more coffee. Somewhat bitter. Decent but not great.

[Tap] Jet black pour with a small tan head. Aromas of coffee grounds, dark chocolate and roasted malts. Charred grains, bakers chocolate, bitter coffee, rye, light vanilla and ashy malts in the taste. Good flavor overall, but it seems a little thin. Mild carbonation. Good looking lacing left over on the glass. Tasting notes from 9/2014.
