Commercial Description:
Gorilla Warfare Porter is a silky smooth porter made with 40 lbs of Park Slope's Gorilla Coffee Ethiopian Yergacheffe blend, a Fair Trade and Organic Certified coffee roasted in Sunset Park, Brooklyn. The coffee has winey, spicy notes with hints of baker's chocolate. Combined with patent malt, the signature of many great English-style porters, this is one silky smooth, coffee-rich porter.

Tap @ The Ginger Man. Poured black with a creamy tan head. The aroma is of mild creamy coffee. Better than many this doesn’t have that stale grind smell. Mild choclate and a mild roast round out the aroma. Nice mix of coffee and sweet roasted malt make the flavor. Semi-dry finish with a nice bitterness. Medium almost silky body.

Tap at Blind Tiger. Ever since apoptosis and notalush turned me onto Gorilla coffee, it has been the only coffee I have in my house... so I was very excited to see this on tap. Deep black beer with a thick tan head. Aroma is loaded with sweet chocolatey malt and a heavy roastiness. A touch of creamy character and a heavy chocolatey flavour. Quite chewy and sweet with a lovely complex maltiness. A soft coffeeish flavour on the back along with the lingering roastiness. Excellent brew.

On tap at the23rd best bar in the USA, the Hop Devil Grill. Nice tan head with a roasty as hell aroma. Great coffee flavor and I have no problem with the thin body I heard about.

[Draft @ Barcade] Poured a dark brown with some red shining in on the edges, and a medium sized tan head that left nice lacing on the glass. Aroma of coffee, roasted malts, light chocolate, and some smoke. Taste was dominated by coffee, with some chocolate, vanilla bean, light smoke, and a dry, roasty finish.

Thanks to Larry for the "growler"! Poured deep brown with a short, creamy cap of beige head. The aroma picked up sweeter and roasty darker chocolates with a heavy dose of black patent malts.. a bit lighter brown sugar and molasses also came through.. warm and pleasant. The flavor found darker chocolates and coffee bitterness with sporadic accents of bright pine and herbal bitterness.. sticky herbs at the end.. this didn’t come together as I had hoped. Rather grainy on the palate with low-moderate carbonation.. sticky and sweeter on the back.. decent, but short of expectations.
