Gorilla Warfare Porter is a silky smooth porter made with 40 lbs of Park Slope’s Gorilla Coffee Ethiopian Yergacheffe blend, a Fair Trade and Organic Certified coffee roasted in Sunset Park, Brooklyn. The coffee has winey, spicy notes with hints of baker’s chocolate. Combined with patent malt, the signature of many great English-style porters, this is one silky smooth, coffee-rich porter.

Dark brown color, edge head. Aroma of Starbucks. Very light bodied, flavor is of over roasted coffee, just like a Starbucks. More like drinking a cup of coffee than a porter.

Tap at Barcade. I had the 2008 vintage. Very decent but it didn’t live up to my expectations. Everything about the beer was a little light. Aroma of slightly roasted malts and mild coffee. Flavor was pleasant, some malty sweetness, tasty notes of chocolate and coffee. Clean with a hint of bitter bite on the finish. Sort of like a Brownstone with some coffee.

A clear brown Porter with a thin mocha head. In aroma, sweet nutty chocolate malt with light grassy floral hops. In mouth, a nice roasted chocolate malt with grassy piney and floral hops, warming alcohol alcohol, very nice.

JW77 hooks it up. Dark brown pour. Coffee, chocolate, roasted malt and some molasses in the aroma. Flavor is much the same. A great coffee note makes this one a real treat.

Thanks goryshkewych for sending this one my way! Poured a dark brown color with a large sized off white head. Aromas of coffee, roastiness, chocolate, a little earthy, and lighter vanilla. Tastes of coffee, chocoalte, and roastiness.

Tap at Blind Tiger. Ever since apoptosis and notalush turned me onto Gorilla coffee, it has been the only coffee I have in my house... so I was very excited to see this on tap. Deep black beer with a thick tan head. Aroma is loaded with sweet chocolatey malt and a heavy roastiness. A touch of creamy character and a heavy chocolatey flavour. Quite chewy and sweet with a lovely complex maltiness. A soft coffeeish flavour on the back along with the lingering roastiness. Excellent brew.
