Gorilla Warfare Porter is a silky smooth porter made with 40 lbs of Park Slope’s Gorilla Coffee Ethiopian Yergacheffe blend, a Fair Trade and Organic Certified coffee roasted in Sunset Park, Brooklyn. The coffee has winey, spicy notes with hints of baker’s chocolate. Combined with patent malt, the signature of many great English-style porters, this is one silky smooth, coffee-rich porter.

Tap at Barcade: I had just found out about the quality Park Slope coffee place, Gorilla, thanks to notalush; and then this fine Porter came out, cool! Near opaque pour with a fading tan ring for head. Huge roasted aroma. Pungent coffee which is accompanied by a slightly nutty dark chocolate hint. Thick bodied without being cloying. Flavor is straight coffee! Rich and roasted, tastes like the aroma of freshly ground dark roast beans. Also has some salty dark chocolate and a really long coffee bitter finish, with a subtle hop dryness as well. Extremely well crafted. A coffee lovers beer!

Sampled at Rattle N Hum. Too much tart fruit, potentially infected...lactic qualities accompany bitter chocolate and toffee. Cherry skin, plum, and raspberries are there as well. Distracting. Pass.

Tap @ Mugs, poured into a 12oz Blue Point glass from their cask fest... whats up with that? I do not think that Sixpoint made a fresh batch of this so I think this has just been stuck in distribution (or bar) since December. This is probably why I was not as impressed as everyone else by this beer, for my tastes Sixpoint is always best fresh. Either way this is as black as night. Aroma of prune-y, watered down coffee and dark malts. Taste those aspects and is a bit weaker. Kind of got a bit of a watery feel from the body. I would love to try this fresher (if they ever make it again, which I doubt).

Pours black with low light tan head. Aroma of coffee, chocolate and vanilla. Taste is very chocolate rich up front, sweet and milk chocolatey, followed by balanced and smooth coffee bitter finish. Body is lightish with soft carbonation.

Tap at Stags Head pours rich dark brown with rich aromas of toffee and cocoa. Tastes chocolatey, of coffee, earth, malt, slight spice and earth. Quite nice brew with velvety finish.

[Tap] Jet black pour with a small tan head. Aromas of coffee grounds, dark chocolate and roasted malts. Charred grains, bakers chocolate, bitter coffee, rye, light vanilla and ashy malts in the taste. Good flavor overall, but it seems a little thin. Mild carbonation. Good looking lacing left over on the glass. Tasting notes from 9/2014.

On tap at 28 Springs. Pours super dark brown to black. Aroma is coffee and roast. Lots of coffee on the flavor. And then more coffee. Somewhat bitter. Decent but not great. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Black pour with a thin khaki head and sticky lacing .... nice aroma of dark bakers chocolate, coffee and roasted malts .... coffee is potent in this one .... taste is of bitter dark chocolate, coffee, roasted malts very bitter and coffee like brew .... has a very bitter dark roasted dry finish with a long lingering bitterness ... the dark chocolate and coffee flavors are very solid in this brew ... has a thinner mouthfeel

Growler from skyview. The aroma is strong coffee that dominates the other flavors. The body isn’t as harsh, but still very strong.
