Tap at devils advocate with commonmac. 10oz pour in tulip. Hazy gold with very thick white head and excellent lacing . Smells of sweet and hop balance. Tastes amazing. Much more tart and funky than most dipa, which is terrific. Hop and alcohol and bitter character come at the end. Great beer, right up my alley. This is what I’ve been wanting a dipa to try .

Tap. Moderate to heavy roasted and caramel for the malt, heavy pine, and orange and grapefruit peel for the hops, light soap for the yeast, with solvent and urea in the background. Head is small, frothy turning wispy, white, with good lacing and good legs, and is mostly diminishing. Color is clear dark amber. Flavor starts moderately sweet and lightly acidic, then finishes lightly sweet and moderately acidic and bitter. Palate is medium to full, almost syrupy, with a soft carbonation and a lightly astringent finish. Full of everything DIPA-ish and then some. This was a great mountain to climb.

Canned. Best by 07/12/16. Pours remarkably deep ruby copper, slightly beige head, small, sudsy lacing. Aroma is pine, residual sugar sweetness, citrus hops, grapefruit, some mango, light tropical notes. Flavor is pine, sugar sweetness, booze, slight vanilla note maybe? It’s fairly malty, and it kinda drinks like a super hoppy barleywine, which works for me, that’s like my go-to. Sort of like a less malty/fruity bigfoot is how it drinks to me. It’s got a solid hop bite finish that’s sort of turns into this long bitterness to it as well. I really dig it. It works for me.

Can. Perfect clarity; burnt orange hue; tight white cap. Pretty brew. Aroma has a surprising amount of caramelized sugar, accented by ethanol, grapefruit and flowers. The flavor has a similar booziness--the whole thing comes across as citrus and hop liqueur. Doughy, vanilla-accented malts provide some sweetness, and the pillowy body softens the bitter, boozy edges.

On tap at Warren’s Ale House in Wheaton, IL. as a 5 oz. flight sampler, showing a clear & bright, deep amber/gold color, with a frothy layer of off white head foam, and sheet-like cling to the lacing. Served a bit cold, but with a little warming, still produced only modest fruitiness on the nose. The taste offered more, with pit fruit, touches of citrus & tropical scent, and Barleywine-like malt sweetness & alcohol. Medium bodied, with decent carbonation, earthy bitterness, and a warming presence to the finish. An unmistakably hefty DIPA.

Draught. Clear copper red with creamy beige head, faint caramel aroma, low carbonation, caramel taste with resiny bitterness, alcohoil undertones, longish bitter finish. Strong and bitter but seems to have more caramel than hops.

Slim energy drink-like can split by 4 @ “Sir Goatie McGoat S&G Tasting”. Thank you Mathieu87 and/or PriorL! Dark orange, little white head. Nose is oddly sweet orange & candy sweet. Taste is cloying orange, sugar, candy, pine, massively sweet with resin. Malty body. Strange, overly cloying which really doesn’t suit it. Not the biggest fan.
