2.1 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 8/20
Can fresh off the delivery truck at Beer Frog Spring Hill. Pours orange with a white head. Nose is huge hop syrup- like orange juice concentrate and distilled pine sap with some caramel in there but it is so faint I barely get anything. Flavor is similar- hop juice with huge booze, some distilled pine resin, and some water at some point. This one was over the top and I could not get into it. Medium to full in body and not my cup of tea.

Can at Bailey’s Taproom in Portland in January. Appearance: 2 fingers light golden head, clear, golden color, good lacing. Aroma: pine, floral, caramel. Palate: average carbonation, sticky texture, bitter finish, medium body. Taste: sweet caramel that is phenomenal, on into floral and citrus hops with a very smooth transition. Overall, amazing beer. Very happy to finally try.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Copper color with an off-white head. Floral and citrus hip aroma. Sweet caramel malt on the palate with resinous hop bitterness. Heavy mouthfeel. Overall the bitterness is balanced well by a substantial malt backing.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Canned. Poured clear, brighter orange with a sticky white head.. looked great! The aroma picked up spicy orange, pine, and black pepper over soft caramel and honeyed malts.. a touch medicinal. The flavor found similar, with spicy hops and fairly boozy notes leading.. a little off-balance. Heavier-bodied with moderate-plus carbonation.. rough at times.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
(Can) Aroma is faint with notes of alcohol. Decent light amber complexion with mild combination. A biting hop flavor with malt balance. A high IBU with bitter resin. Additional grapefruit sweetness would be helpful. Noted alcohol aftertaste.

Aroma is grapefruit and hops when first opening. When it has warmed up a strong alcohol aroma takes over. The taste is of grapefruit, citrus, and hay. More straw and brown sugar tastes are later felt when it warms up.

EBF. Pours a clear golden with a small white head that leaves great lacing. Nose is of alcohol and tropical fruits. Taste is lightly sweet with way booze than the nose would suggest and hoppy/fruity. Body is medium, carbonation moderate. Overall a good option, hopefully not too heavy/boozy or it would have been a mess.

Nice aromas with plenty of juicy citrus, resin and fruit notes with some sweet malts. Flavor was a bit of a let down, the sweetness of the malts dominated the hops. The purpose of IIPA’s is to showcase hops, malt bombs defeat the purpose.
