RblWthACoz (963), Brooklyn, New York, USA Mar 30, 2009 Pours a clouded orange with a nice creme head. Floral hoppy nose. Strong citric hops flavor profile. Very firm bitter tone. Feel is good. This is very drinkable, even though it’s so distinct and firm. Hop heads rejoice! Even in these times of hop-uncertainty, Sixpoint clearly delivers one for those who have the appreciation for it. swoopjones (1862), Buffalo, New York, USA Dec 3, 2008 Sample bottle @ Sixpoint. Big hop filled Aroma. Pours a orangish amber with some floaties. Big hop flavor, piney, Citrusy. Nice malt balance. Good beer GAManiac (1123), Atlanta, Georgia, USA Nov 27, 2008 Handbottle from the Shane poured into a snifter.
Pours a murky reddish amber with lots of floaties and carbonation rising from the bottom. The head is a two-finger soapy white which hangs on as a cap and leaves decent lacing.
The aroma is very mild with some subtle caramel malts and bits of earthy hops in the nose as well.
The taste is a little more forward with the earthy hops popping up front with a strong bitterness. The bready malts form the backbone with some sweetness of caramel and fruits. The hops hit again in the finish and leave a bitterness in the finish.
The mouthfeel is medium to full bodied for the style and creamy. The carbonation enhances the slightly astringent bitterness of the hops.
This is a very good amber and the drinkability is hurt just slightly by the hint of metallic bitterness in the finish. KnutAlbert (3110), Oslo, Norway Oct 14, 2008 On tap at Rattle n Hum, NYC.
Dishwater appearance.
Sweetish beer without much of an identity. Some hoppiness trying to get out.
This beer was clearly meant to be better, and I suspect the bar does not have total quality control yet. malrubius (969), Valley Stream, New York, USA Oct 12, 2008 Tap @ The Cherry Tree in one of those funky new Sam Adams glasses. Orange copper with lasting head and lace. Toasted caramel and hop aroma. Very toasted medium caramel, caramelized sweetness, mild fruit and nice well-balanced hoppy bitterness. Medium body and carbo. A nice sessionable hoppy beer. Maverick34 (686), New York, USA Oct 4, 2008 Draft. An ale with lots of hops and such going on. Drinkable I guess. Nothing else to say. nhorween (639), Chicago, Illinois, USA Oct 3, 2008 Growler from Bowery WFM. Slighty hazy, ruddy orange color with a white head. Grassy and citrus-y hops, zesty spiciness, clean and slightly nutty malt character. Balanced and a little bready flavor, clean and crisp. Medium bodied with a short and smooth bitter finish. A little watery up front. Nothing remarkable, but balanced and quaffable. LilBeerDoctor (1480), East Setauket, New York, USA Sep 29, 2008 Growler. Pours a clear deep orange with a very small white ring of head. Aroma of citrus, piney, and grassy hops with a wheaty malt backbone. Flavor is quite hoppy with a nice balance of citrusy, grassy hops with wheat and caramel malt. Some light fruity notes in the finish. A very tasty beer that is practically an IPA.
