Commercial Description:
In keeping with the Illinois senator’s unifying theme, the "Hop Obama" is an indefinable ale that doesn’t adhere to traditional style guidelines. The 5.2% ABV creation contains five different kinds of European crystal malt and three different kinds of Pacific Northwest Hops. Combined with a Scottish yeast strain for fermentation, the result is a highly drinkable beer with a big malt background and an "Obama" of hops that imparts floral and citrus notes with just a hint of spiciness.

Fresh 10 oz. "growler." Aroma of toasted malt, grapefruity hops. Flavor more and more sweet and tangy grapefruit. Nice, malty body. Great stuff.

Tap at Pacific Standard in Brooklyn. Medium amber pour. Light citrus, some maltiness. Pretty balanced, but didn’t seem well crafted. Not super hoppy. Not bad; average. An unassuming beer.

On tap at the Sixpoint tasting at Dave’s Bellport Beer and Soda. Pours a hazy gold that is a shade darker than the Bagali Tiger I had just before, with a linen white head. Pleasant aroma of pine and malt. The flavor is malt up front followed by pine and some grapefruit bitterness. The bitterness wanes as the beer finishes with a touch of dryness.

A bit of a gimick beer, pretty well done though. Reletively thick body with a light aroma. Hopy, full palate. Some Sweetness, malt. Mild and relativly average on all fronts. High drinkablilty.

[Draft @ Pacific Standard] Poured a hazy amber color with a small, off white head that left nice lacing on the glass. Aroma of sweeter crystal malts, floral hops, light pine, citrus fruits, and some toast as well. Taste leaned toward the fruitier side, with some caramel from the crystal malt, light pine, lower bitterness in the finish.

Growler from whole foods in the villiage. Enjoyed with a ginormous slice of Artichoke pizza from, where else, Artichoke. Really delicous pale with nice sweet malt and sharp hops. GO OBAMA

(Draught) Pours a hazy amber body with a small off-white head. Aroma of florals/herbs, citrus, and biscuit. Flavor of hops (pine, resin, herbs, grass) and caramel malt with a bitter finish.

Cloudy poor, crisp IPA like flavor, definitely hoppy. Not overwhelming and doesn’t finish overly dry.
