Commercial Description:
In keeping with the Illinois senator’s unifying theme, the "Hop Obama" is an indefinable ale that doesn’t adhere to traditional style guidelines. The 5.2% ABV creation contains five different kinds of European crystal malt and three different kinds of Pacific Northwest Hops. Combined with a Scottish yeast strain for fermentation, the result is a highly drinkable beer with a big malt background and an "Obama" of hops that imparts floral and citrus notes with just a hint of spiciness.

Pours a clouded orange with a nice creme head. Floral hoppy nose. Strong citric hops flavor profile. Very firm bitter tone. Feel is good. This is very drinkable, even though it’s so distinct and firm. Hop heads rejoice! Even in these times of hop-uncertainty, Sixpoint clearly delivers one for those who have the appreciation for it.

Draught at Pacific Standard. Poured a cloudy orange with a minimal head. Has that "yeah, that’s Sixpoint" grapefruity/floral hop aroma. Flavorwise, the familiar Sixpoint hoppy character--zesty citric grapefruit with mild resin--presents itself over clean but full caramely malts. Spritzy citrus-twist and mildly spicy finish. Seems like it could be a fuller and hoppier Sweet Action or a not-so-strong Bengali Tiger. Maybe a strange hybrid of the two with some tweaks here and there. Either way, this has the familiar Sixpoint elements, which I’ve come to enjoy.

Draft. An ale with lots of hops and such going on. Drinkable I guess. Nothing else to say.

Growler from Bowery WFM. Slighty hazy, ruddy orange color with a white head. Grassy and citrus-y hops, zesty spiciness, clean and slightly nutty malt character. Balanced and a little bready flavor, clean and crisp. Medium bodied with a short and smooth bitter finish. A little watery up front. Nothing remarkable, but balanced and quaffable.

Draft: cloudy orange, hoppy aroma, dry hoppy ale with plenty of malt presence, not bad

A bit of a gimick beer, pretty well done though. Reletively thick body with a light aroma. Hopy, full palate. Some Sweetness, malt. Mild and relativly average on all fronts. High drinkablilty.

Interesting combination of ingredients in this one, but somehow it works. Nice citrus and grassy hop flavors. Good residual malt sweetness and well balanced.

Growler into Sam Adams Lager glass. Pours opaque cloudy orange with a big, rocky off-white head. Aroma is biscuity malt and citrus hops, hint of pine. Taste is sweet citrus and caramel malt on the front, with a prickly earthy, piney hop character emerging on the back of the tongue, and soft lingering bitterness on the finish that coats the throat, along with a hint of biscuity malt. Mouthfeel is creamy, with a subdued carbonation. Like their IPA, the malt never really emerges from the hops -- it comes out a bit underneath, but never really establishes a presence independent of the hoppy character. Good beer - interesting, and very drinkable.
