Commercial Description:
In keeping with the Illinois senator’s unifying theme, the "Hop Obama" is an indefinable ale that doesn’t adhere to traditional style guidelines. The 5.2% ABV creation contains five different kinds of European crystal malt and three different kinds of Pacific Northwest Hops. Combined with a Scottish yeast strain for fermentation, the result is a highly drinkable beer with a big malt background and an "Obama" of hops that imparts floral and citrus notes with just a hint of spiciness.

Growler. I found this orange/gold ale at Superstar in Huntington to be very drinkable with the strong aroma of hops up front and interesting malts in the body. I couldn’t name the elements of spice in the aftertaste or foamy head, but I just kept pouring as it went well with baked chicken and whole wheat pasta with diced tomatoes. Reflecting on it for a moment before pouring another pint, it reminded me of a maltier version of the Sweet Action. I could easily devour my growler’s contents while wishing I had bought another one.

Pours a clouded orange with a nice creme head. Floral hoppy nose. Strong citric hops flavor profile. Very firm bitter tone. Feel is good. This is very drinkable, even though it’s so distinct and firm. Hop heads rejoice! Even in these times of hop-uncertainty, Sixpoint clearly delivers one for those who have the appreciation for it.

Fresh 10 oz. "growler." Aroma of toasted malt, grapefruity hops. Flavor more and more sweet and tangy grapefruit. Nice, malty body. Great stuff.

Growler. Pours a clear deep orange with a very small white ring of head. Aroma of citrus, piney, and grassy hops with a wheaty malt backbone. Flavor is quite hoppy with a nice balance of citrusy, grassy hops with wheat and caramel malt. Some light fruity notes in the finish. A very tasty beer that is practically an IPA.

Growler - turbid orange beer, with a soapy lace that never quite kicks into a full head - the aroma has the expected hop explosion I’ve come to expect from Sixpoint, but the use of PNW hops gives it a kind of citrusy, California IPA kind of smell (very grassy and herbal, with an almost acidic citrus character), along with faint bready and yeasty aromas - medium carbonation, and quite full-bodied for the style - the scottish ale yeast does lend a marked british character to the beer, mostly in the form of a biscuity finish - beyond that, this is standard Sixpoint in top form - a mouth-watering hop combination that works really well with the malts, neither one really asserting dominance - a little bit spicy, with oranges and a touch of strawberry - it is very much like Bengali Tiger, which is not a bad thing at all - very nice indeed.

Growler from whole foods in the villiage. Enjoyed with a ginormous slice of Artichoke pizza from, where else, Artichoke. Really delicous pale with nice sweet malt and sharp hops. GO OBAMA

Tap at Blind Tiger. Hazy orange-amber beer topped by a thick sticky froth. Sweet hoppy aroma, a bit of rich biscuity maltiness. Some sweet cookie dough and a softly spicy/fruity hop character. The hop aroma reminds me of the 8 Days O’ Wheat when it was fresh, while the malts are more in line with the Gemin-IPA. A kiss of cherry and berryish yeastiness. Very light pine and a bit of light resiny character. On the back, the pine and resin really play off the sweet biscuity malts. People think these beers taste the same, but as long as they taste like this, I’m not complaining.

On tap at Pacific Standard. Cloudy orange in color with a little white head. Floral crisp hoppy aroma. Orange and grapefruit notes. Hoppy malty flavor. Caramel notes. Nice hop bitterness. Finish is spicy. Full bodied. Very drinkable.
