COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
When I think of the word “Stout,” all the words and images that are conjured have one thing in common: LARGE SIZE. I believe a stout should be a celebration of all the robust flavors of its signature style. Therefore, I created the Sixpoint Otis as an accentuation of the distinguishing characteristics of stout beer: roasted flavor, full body, and hop bitterness. My favorite style of stout is Oatmeal Stout - a rare variety that earns its name from brewers adding whole flaked oats to the mash. When added in small quantities, I find the oats do not typically add much flavor to the stouts, but they have an incredible impact on the mouthfeel and body. Celebrate our Oatmeal Stout by enjoying its texture! The oats provide a silky, velvety mouthfeel. Celebrate our Oatmeal stout by enjoying its roastedness! I add extra quantities of roasted barley – the malt that lends stout beer its dark color – to provide a flavor of rich coffee. Celebrate our Oatmeal Stout by enjoying its balance! The deep caramel, toffee, and molasses flavors are complimented by even additions of hops throughout. Celebrate by ordering a pint of the Otis!

slightly smokey, smooth and creamy. a bit acrid and nutty with a roasted facet to it. clean finish with spice of licorice and star anise and a hoppy component. metal aroma is not of interest and it is only moderate of body. suited well to this time of year and what one would look for with its fortifying alcohol that is well hidden. i enjoyed this one.

Black color, light brown head. Sweet, smooth, malty, roasted, grainy taste. Medium, a bit moussy, still sort of smooth grainy mouthfeel. Grainy roasted aftertaste. Dry, roasted scent.

On tap at Rattle N Hum, poured into an imperial pint glass. Deep dark almost black hue with purple on the edges capped by a creamy off white head with excellent retention. Nose is light with hint of roastiness. Taste is full of roast malt, light flower balances nicely. Mouth is light and creamy. Yeah! Rated via BeerBuddy

Tap, Tap room 307, Gramercy, NYC, 17/12/11. Huge foaming tan on black. US citrus, Neopolitan aroma. Deep and smooth with earthy ,blackened husk and citrus flavours. An undercurrent of burnt milk and lemon. Decent.

On tap at Pinocchio’s. Dark pour, floofy head, lacing all up and down the glass. Lots of oat the nose and flavor. Just a mild bitterness from roast, subtle hints of coffee. Smooth on the tongue from the nitro pour. Enjoyable.

16oz pour Maxs taphouse. Black, no head, nice lacing for a stout. Aroma is soft vanilla, coffee, roasted malt. Flavor is the same. Mouthfeel is fairly thin, moderately low carbonation, perfectly sessionable. Really nice OS.

Tap. Pours black with brown highlights, a medium-large creamy tan head, long retention with excellent lacing. Aroma is leather, dark coffee and chocolate malt, spicy and earthy hops with dark fruit notes. Flavor is dark fruit, lightly sour and bitter dark malt, bitter hops, leather yeast and a dry finish. Medium body and carbonation, low warmth.

Tap at Rattle N Hum. A long pour yields a Guinness type clone with massive carbonation, reverse cascade, with a forthy cream head remaining. Rings of thick, sheety nitro looking lace. Looks like it is on nitro but I could be wrong. Deep coffee SRM looking black. Tart berries in the nose. Taste up front is sweet sugar and lactose sugar moving to toast, bitter chocolate, earth, silky oats, tart berries. Tangy sourness in back end similar to Guinness. Feels like a slightly heavier Guinness clone/Irish dry stout more so than a sweet stout. Mouthfeel is thinner and sessionable. Decent.

From nitro tap at Sunset Grill. Pours dark brown with a creamy, tan and lasting head. Aroma is roasted dark malty and breadish. Bitter, dark roasted malty and dark breadish. Light butterish touch. Ends bitter and black dark roasted malty.Light coffee note into the far finish.
