It’s been less than a year since we released our four core beers in cans, and we’re ecstatic to announce a new addition to the flock. This isn’t a seasonal release, like the Autumnation of last fall or Diesel, still going ’round this winter. It isn’t our upcoming spring seasonal can, either. It’s a never-before-released, big beer in a slim, 12 oz. can with a potent burst of hops and as strong as an ox: Resin. We zeroed in on the botanical structure of the hop cone to get to the essence of this beer. When hops are at their peak maturity, their cores swell up with a sticky, golden, resinous substance that is the flavor you crave from an IPA. WIth an IBU of 103 and ABV of 9.1%, Resin can be loosely described as a double IPA — but rarely do Sixpoint beers adhere to any strict style demands.

1/31/13 $2.99 weird bottle (redbull can). First of 3 beers drank at CBO. pine pine more pine. Coats the tongue after a few sips. Lots of citrus added in. Wanted to get the hi-resin but it was sold out. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Pours amber with a fading head. Nose shows big resinous hoppy notes along with pine, lychee, passion fruit and floral hops. Big sweet clean malt too. Very similar flavours. Perhaps not as much malt as I’d expect, comes off overly sharp and astringently bitter. Lovely hop characters though with big pine and tropical fruit notes. Carbonation seems just a little high.

Odd shaped can. Almost energy drink size. Resin pours a bright orange. Leaves plenty of lacing on the glass. Aroma is herbal and dank. Taste has some navel orange notes but also carries a wallop of alcohol. The bitterness is there at the top of the mouth. But doesn’t really smack you much. A bit medicinal too.

Sampled from can at Sloshfesr. Incredibly nice aromas that match up to Pliny the Elder and Zombie Dust. Taste however is a bit out of balance.

På fat. En fin arom av persika o passionsfrukt. Smakun är komplex med en maltig tung känsla som följs av en kraftig tung beska som ligger kvar länge. En bra dipa!!

Pours cloudy orange with medium off-white head. Aroma of caramel, resin, peach, mango. Taste is big resin bitter with long bitter finish. Fairly light body with soft carbonation. Slightly boozy. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Poured from can. Amber color with a white head Nose is big citrusy hops with pine. Taste is very well balanced with the powerful citrusy hops and then some slight caramel malts to even it out. Medium body with a bitter finish. Great beer!

From the can, courtesy of Don @ Sloshfest. Pretty sweet and malty on the aroma. Doesn’t really float my boat IPA-wise. The taste is a different beast: intensely bitter hops leading into a smooth malty, sweet finish. You wouldn’t want more than 1 of these though, which makes it fairly atypical for the IPAs I like to drink. Still, very good stuff. I dig baby, I dig.

Can. Hazy pale amber with a large white head that settles to a fluffy inch then fades gracefully. Aroma of fresh-cut pine, biscuit, peach, mango, oranges, grapefruit, strawberries. Oily texture. Pretty sweet but not heavy. Peach and some light tropical notes, more oranges than grapefruit, pine is there but not so obvious as suggested by the first whiff . Quite bitter but only enough to establish a presence through the sweet fruit. Alcohol is pretty well-hidden. No cleaning products. Good.

Can to glass. Dark Amber pour with a thin white head. Nose is a sweet malt with huge citrus hops. Taste is a strong base of malt with crazy amounts of citrus and bitter sweet hops.
