3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
UPDATED: OCT 26, 2012 On draft at Tattooed Mom in Philly. Poured into a goblet, light orange color, two finger head, not much lacing. This beer is a hop blast. Bitter with not much malt backbone. Slightly artificial and a bit unbalanced for my taste. It was adequate as the only ipa in the bar.
Update: Drank from can and found this to be quite good. Very tart and bitter, but with an underlying sweetness. Definitely approaching the upper echelon of ipaís.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pours a bright orange with a two finger head. Notes of citrus with light spice go into a sweeter textural mouthfeel. ABV is upfront but hides at the end with a lingering finish.

3.1 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 14/20
Funny I never thought of this one as a DIPA till I saw it written here. The higher abv really is not that noticeable to me, and though very resinous, not as heavy as many doubles.
The bitterness is fairly brutal, but if you like that, it can be an enjoyable beer.
Negative on the palate for the strangely quickly dissolving carbonation / head.
As a practical matter, the slim cans and high abv are excellent for travel / camping situations.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
12oz can from Armanettiís. Pours a cloudy, orange, light gold tinted body with a finger-width, dense and creamy, off-white head that dissipates slowly and leaves a nice lacing. Aroma is sweeter with lots of crystal malts, floral hops, and some sticky resins. Some melon fruits, a light pine, and chewy caramels. Flavor has a bland, chewy crystal malt sweetness up front with a light bread and some caramel. The bitter hops really come on in the middle with some grapefruit pines and florals. A bit of a toasted toffee before this finishes dry with a floral and piney, resiny bitterness and some chewy crystal malts. Lengthy aftertaste following a medium-full, slightly chewy body and a soft, moderate carbonation. Overall, this is a DIPA that is a bit too high in ABV% for its own good. Its not bad, but its sweet, chewy, resiny, and bitter while never coming completely together. Eh...

2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 10/20
Pours deep orange with a slightly off white head that is frothy and lasting. Nose is flowery, citrus, and slightly piney but light and lacking intensity. Flavor is pines, sticky resinous hops, citrus, grapefruit and some grass. medium light body and moderately dry and bitter on the finish. Not bad but really lacking in hop flavor and aroma. Bitterness is close but other than that I want more hops.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
12oz can as part of a 4-pack purchased locally here in chicago... pours a somewhat hazy orange brown hue, somewhat lively, and topped with medium soapy barely off-white head... aroma of somewhat floral and citrus concentrated hops, a bit muted and lacking in assertiveness perhaps having after the green flash. a bit phenolic late with a backsplash of toasty malt.... flavors are mild with an average citrus and bitter hop profile, mildly sweet through the middle. body isnít too big, just shy of medium, with carbonation that lightens things up. ok for the most part, perhaps a bit too run of the mill these days.
