Itís been less than a year since we released our four core beers in cans, and weíre ecstatic to announce a new addition to the flock. This isnít a seasonal release, like the Autumnation of last fall or Diesel, still going íround this winter. It isnít our upcoming spring seasonal can, either. Itís a never-before-released, big beer in a slim, 12 oz. can with a potent burst of hops and as strong as an ox: Resin. We zeroed in on the botanical structure of the hop cone to get to the essence of this beer. When hops are at their peak maturity, their cores swell up with a sticky, golden, resinous substance that is the flavor you crave from an IPA. WIth an IBU of 103 and ABV of 9.1%, Resin can be loosely described as a double IPA ó but rarely do Sixpoint beers adhere to any strict style demands.

pours golden amber with medium white head and some decent lacing. nose is all pine and citrus hoppiness. flavor is no surpise - serious spruce and citrus (mainly orange) hops, although not overwhelming. thereís definitely a somewhat sweet, malty presence, which helps add balance. finishes with more orange notes along with creamy malt, as well as a hint of bitterness. medium texture; not all that thick, but definitely quite sticky.

12 oz can to pint. Looks good; a semi-transparent orange with sticky off-white head. Smells and tastes solid; some hops and malt. Average on the palate. Decent, but forgettable.

12 oz. can via trade with DrSilverworm - Pours a hazy amber color with a one finger thick off white head. Light lacing. Aroma is big resin and pine hops. Flavor is much of the same with the addition of a little malt sweetness. Surprisingly, there is very little astringency and itís not very bitter. Medium body. A good beer. Thanks Chris.

Deep copper glow with a nice amber tint and a good sixed off-white head. Aroma of pungent, resinous (funny) hops with a lot of sweetness, a ton of malt and perhaps even more alcohol! Medium to Full-bodied; Strong piney and herbal hop notes dominate the flavour with a good malt backbone, a bit of sprucey and herbal hop notes and quite a bit of alcohol warmth at the end. Aftertaste is potent and filling with the hops obviously dominating, but some robust sweetness and oaky herbalness also noticeable. Overall, a very nice Imperial IPA - not overdone and the small format can is nice as well. I sampled this twelve ounce can purchased from Beer Table Pantry in New York, NY right before drinking this on the train upstate on 11-December-2012.

Draft at Redlight. Deep golden pour with a white head that laces. Aroma of sticky, dank, and yes, resinous hops with some underlying sweet malts. Sticky sweet hops and caramel malt. Sweet smooth slightly bitter end. Pretty tasty!

2012-11-18. Light hazy dark orange, small off-white head. 3+ Initial fruity hoppy aroma gives way a bit to a more alcoholic second wave, tropical fruit. Flavour is fairly bitter, modest fruity hop character, light malt support, modest alcohol in the finish grows stronger the faster you drink it, and as it warms up. Average plus bodied palate. Really nice hop character, simple but tasty. Just a little too warming overall, which is understandable considering the abv. Can from Premier Gourmet, Buffalo

12oz can, best by March 5, 2013. Served around 45F.

Pours quite hazy orange amber with a three finger white head that leaves tons of clumpy sticky drippy webs and rings of lacing and holds a small cap. Beautiful.

Aroma is some citrus hops, orange, grapefruit also very herbal, resinous and pungent, even a bit funky, some caramel malt as well. Good, but not great strength.

Flavor is orange marmalade, grapefruit, resinous hops, a little touch of some weird funky character, caramel malt, candy, mild sweetness, good bitterness. Some alcohol on the finish as well.

Mouthfeel is medium-plus bodied, sticky, good carbonation.

Pretty good, very hoppy, quite intense. The slight underlying funkiness keeps it from being great, though.

Poured from a can, hazy copper with a thick white head. Excited by the aroma, not disappointed one bit by the taste from start to finish. Might have found my new favorite IPA (or whatever this is) ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
