COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
It’s been less than a year since we released our four core beers in cans, and we’re ecstatic to announce a new addition to the flock. This isn’t a seasonal release, like the Autumnation of last fall or Diesel, still going ’round this winter. It isn’t our upcoming spring seasonal can, either. It’s a never-before-released, big beer in a slim, 12 oz. can with a potent burst of hops and as strong as an ox: Resin. We zeroed in on the botanical structure of the hop cone to get to the essence of this beer. When hops are at their peak maturity, their cores swell up with a sticky, golden, resinous substance that is the flavor you crave from an IPA. WIth an IBU of 103 and ABV of 9.1%, Resin can be loosely described as a double IPA — but rarely do Sixpoint beers adhere to any strict style demands.

I got a glass of this for $5.50 at Conway and O’Reilly’s in Janesville, WI in spring 2012. Pours a cloudy copper orange color with a creamy white head. Slightly bitter scent with a nice blend of malts. Crisp and dry flavor from a lot of hops. Some bitter citrus hints with a malty finish. Quite a nice mellow texture.

12oz can, pours golden color semi clear color with large white head. Nose is pine resin of course, oranges. Very good fruit flavors from the start, light body close to the medium body side, good level of carbonation. Slight bitterness on the finish that lingers for a while. Fairly balanced with a sweet note of caramel. Great IPA.

Fresh can poured into a duvel tulip. Pours a mostly clear orange amber with a small white head and sticky lacing. Aroma is pine resin, orange, apricot, caramel, some bread, and is on the sweet side. Taste is bitter up front. Strong pine and grapefruit mix with lemon, tangerine, caramel, and maybe bread. Mouthfeel is thicker and sticky. Alcohol is somewhat present. I’ll drink it again but wouldn’t go out of my way to find it.

Moderate resin hop aroma and a little earthy. Hazy orange color with a large white head. String initial bitterness that fades into the end. Middle become lightly sweet and fades in the finish.

Courtesy of Summer Secret Santa 2012! I’d love to bring this to work, like on a Friday during lunch, just crack it open... The heads think it’s an energy drink. Nope, it’s beer. And I’m leaving early! So, anyway, that aspect of the whole package gets points. Let’s talk about the beer itself: It’s a juicy hop bomb with a caramel-forward malt backbone. The aroma is sweet and doughy more so than hoppy. The body is murky, with the right amount of head and lacing. I dig the flavor most of all. I really enjoyed this -- the package along with the brew itself.

can - Pours hazy orange with an aroma led by lemon and grapefruit notes. It has a good, sharp bitter tastes with a little citrus and resin. To me those notes are quite mild though. It’s mostly just bitter and somewhat lacking in complexity. It’s still good but could be better, especially given that I love this style of beer.

Det här är en hyfsad öl med en välbalanserad beska och lite blommig smak. Ölen ligger på över nio procent men det känns mer som fem och då menar jag på ett positivt sätt.

Can into Boulevard tulip A- Orangish with generous off-white head. Pretty clear for a beer called Resin. S- Floral and citrus hops, sweet malt. T- Sweet, big hop bitterness, little hop flavor. M- A little thick, a bit undercarbed for my taste. O- Decent beer, nothing special, wouldn’t trade for it again. Serving type: can Reviewed on: 04-17-2012 03:40:23
