Itís been less than a year since we released our four core beers in cans, and weíre ecstatic to announce a new addition to the flock. This isnít a seasonal release, like the Autumnation of last fall or Diesel, still going íround this winter. It isnít our upcoming spring seasonal can, either. Itís a never-before-released, big beer in a slim, 12 oz. can with a potent burst of hops and as strong as an ox: Resin. We zeroed in on the botanical structure of the hop cone to get to the essence of this beer. When hops are at their peak maturity, their cores swell up with a sticky, golden, resinous substance that is the flavor you crave from an IPA. WIth an IBU of 103 and ABV of 9.1%, Resin can be loosely described as a double IPA ó but rarely do Sixpoint beers adhere to any strict style demands.

Milder floral aroma. Copper hazy. Big frothy head with top notch lace. The flavor is decidedly bitter and induces pucker in the palate. Goes down with a slightest burn and leaves your mouth quenching for the next sip.

Resin, floral, grass, spruce, citrus, grapefruit, juicy, bitter but excellently balanced. Beautiful burnt orange color. Poured two fingers white head.

From 12oz slim - Iím forced into a position to say this is fín fantastic. Damn, that beautiful floral aroma! Those amber, golden hues! The home run of hops in your mouth! On top of it all, it is silky smooth.

Hazy, reddish brown appearance with a small, off white head and a fair amount of lacing. Aroma of pine and citrus with a pleasant edge of melon on the backside. The taste is a virtual forest of resinous , piney hops, with a modest nod to a bit of malty, creamy sweetness. Full bodied, bittersweet, well carbonated mouthfeel with a lingering aftertaste.

Thanks to Tom for this. Pours a cloudy straw gold with a small white ring and nice lacing. Aroma is bit citrus and a bit honey. A bit floral and a bit sweet. Taste is a great balance of citrus and floral hops, resinous and sweet with grassy malts. Solid dry hop bitterness. Great beer.

12oz can in a tulip. Pours copper with a lacy, cream-colored head. Aroma strong of citrusy hops, a good amount of caramel and pale malts, plus a little alcohol and light fruits. Flavor the same, with lots of citrusy and bitter hops. Smooth texture. A pretty good beer.

Can shared at Sanderís, NYC during an evening during which we drank far, far too much beer. Pours clear gold with a light, foamy head. Nose of pee, alcohol and pine. Medium to big sweet flavor with lots of alcohol, pine, sugar, light toasty pale malts, lime. Full bodied with average carbonation. Warm finish with moderate resinous pine, mild grapefruit. Itís slightly harsh, to be honest, with a strong alcohol edge. So so overall. Iíll try this one again to see if it fares better, given that many people seem to have enjoyed it.

Pours a clear golden orange color with a thick frothy head that lingers a long time. Aroma is oily, like olive oil, and also floral and citrus. Malt comes through a bit too. Taste is moderately bitter and very little sweetness. Lots of oily hop resin is in the beer as the name would suggest. Big malt backbone adds lot of body to the beer. The texture and body of this beer is amazing but the flavor is a bit lacking. Hops only add a little floral and citrus character but not enough to excite me. Itís still a really good Imperial IPA.

355ml can pours slightly hazy copper with gold edges and near white head of foam. The aroma is resiny hops as well as sort of mango tropical fruit and then it seems to get a bit bready and biscuit like toward the end of the draw. The taste is delivering bold resiny bitter hops thatís sort of pine sap and a bit mango and then runs into various modest malty notes. To midway and into the finish the malts are mild and seem sort of a bready, caramel, biscuit blend. Interesting take as Iím not sure Iím getting the flavor hops here in this mix of flavor notes and bitter hoppiness.

Pours a dark gold. A solid IPA that has a bit of an odd texture. Resin is a very good IPA that has a surprisingly high 9.1%abv. Well balanced and delicious.
