Itís been less than a year since we released our four core beers in cans, and weíre ecstatic to announce a new addition to the flock. This isnít a seasonal release, like the Autumnation of last fall or Diesel, still going íround this winter. It isnít our upcoming spring seasonal can, either. Itís a never-before-released, big beer in a slim, 12 oz. can with a potent burst of hops and as strong as an ox: Resin. We zeroed in on the botanical structure of the hop cone to get to the essence of this beer. When hops are at their peak maturity, their cores swell up with a sticky, golden, resinous substance that is the flavor you crave from an IPA. WIth an IBU of 103 and ABV of 9.1%, Resin can be loosely described as a double IPA ó but rarely do Sixpoint beers adhere to any strict style demands.

Nice sweet hoppy nose. Good smooth flavor with a slow cheek burn of hops. Not at all hoppy on the top of the mouth. I guess I like it. :) Maybe this Sweet Action set me up well for it. I forgot to rate it I enjoyed it so much. Sixpoint makes some mighty fine beers.

Hoppy, but not overpoweringly so. Drinkable, but not in large quantities. Alcoholic.

UPDATED: APR 23, 2013 This is technically a double ipa but it does not taste like one. Has a real unique taste, not very bitter as the 108 ibu would lead you to believe. I like this one a lot ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Brief write-up. This is a rather malty, sweet DIPA, but at the same time, one thatís intensely bitter. Hops donít seem to provide much apart from aforementioned bitterness, while the malt profile gives off strong notes of toffee and earthiness. The lack of dryness really accentuates how piny the finish is. Iíd considering buying it again fresh.

Appearance was clear orangish gold with creamy white 2 finger lasting head, rings of lacing. Aromas are grapefruit, orange, pine, melon. Sweet pale, crystal malt backbone and no alcohol present. Taste are fruity hops of grapefruit, melon, orange, sticky pine and resin. Yummy. Palate was soft smooth CO2 with medium body, then lasting hoppy sweet malty finish. Wonderful DIPA, I wish could get some here, bottle share.

Dark yellow, fluffy head. Aroma is all orange and grapefruit hop. Taste is more of the same, unfortunately the body significantly detracts from enjoying any of the flavor. Flat and thick, syrupy. Combined with the one-dimensional bitterness, this one is hard to enjoy.

It pours a golden color leaving the same color body and mostly clear. There is a fair amount of carbonation which is seen rising. There is a one inch foamy white head. The lacing spider webs my chalice. The smell is hoppy and malty at the same time, piney and earthy, really nicely done. The taste is bittersweet between the malts and the hops, a spectacular taste on the tongue. It is about a medium on the palate with some slight sharpness a bit here and there on the tongue. Overall, this is an excellent DIPA that I would come back to.

Pours light amber color with large off white head. Great aroma and very hoppy taste. Great beer for hopheads! ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Aroma is moderately hoppy, with dank and floral notes plus some caramel and alcohol. Taste is bitter up front followed by some grassy and dank hops. Finish is pretty strong alcohol, though it does blend pretty well.

UPDATED: FEB 19, 2013 Iím not sure what went wrong with this one, and Iíll give it another shot, cause I really enjoy Sixpoint as a brewery and they make some decent beers. Pours a really nice golden amber with no head whatsoever. Flavor is skunky hops, funky and rich with crisp bitterness and citrus. Didnít smell amazing compared to some of their other offerings. Flavor is much much better though. Very crisp and clean with nice, heavy citrus. Medium body. 02192013 On a second try, this came out much better. From draft, pours to snifter a nice deep golden with a faint head that dissipates. Nose is super resinous, lotsa pine and grassy notes with good citrus and grapefruit. Flavors follow through nicely with a bold pine and green taste. Nice lighter body and definitely enjoyable this time.
