Itís been less than a year since we released our four core beers in cans, and weíre ecstatic to announce a new addition to the flock. This isnít a seasonal release, like the Autumnation of last fall or Diesel, still going íround this winter. It isnít our upcoming spring seasonal can, either. Itís a never-before-released, big beer in a slim, 12 oz. can with a potent burst of hops and as strong as an ox: Resin. We zeroed in on the botanical structure of the hop cone to get to the essence of this beer. When hops are at their peak maturity, their cores swell up with a sticky, golden, resinous substance that is the flavor you crave from an IPA. WIth an IBU of 103 and ABV of 9.1%, Resin can be loosely described as a double IPA ó but rarely do Sixpoint beers adhere to any strict style demands.

Hoppy aroma with a hint of lemon. Strong hops but still well balanced. Cloudy pour with very little head. Has a little bite from the high ABU. Very refreshing D IPA.

From the can. No head, nice light golden color. Pine note at the front with a typical IPA flavor in the back end. A nice IPA overall.

12 oz slim can. The look is clear, off whitish head, and golden in color. The smell is very hops, resinous, grassy, caramel, sweet, stale and not bad. The taste is hops, smooth bitterness, chessy, grass, caramel, pine, and ok.

Not as nice as their normal IPA - the alcohol and sweetness outdid themselves. Still respectable.

Can. Hazy deep amber body. Frothy, off-white head, slowly diminishing. Aroma of resin, pine, mint, citrus, caramel. Hint of toasted grain. The flavor is moderately sweet and lightly to moderately bitter. It finishes lightly to moderately sweet and moderately to heavily bitter. Medium body, watery texture that turns sticky, lively carbonation. Taste of sticky caramel coated with resinous hops. Long, lingering bitterness combined with hot, liquor-like alcohol. Peppery with a hint of citrus, especially lemon. Lots going on here, but you have to dig deep to get to it because of this is a resin hop bomb.

Can from Choice Beverages in McKinney. Pours a rich copper color with a medium white head. The aromas are grass, pine, citrus. The mouthfeel is dry, bitter and has a medium body with good carbonation. This was an excellent beer! Cheers!

Sixpoint Resin is a clear, golden ale covered in a soft, thick, yellowed foam that leaves intricate lacing on the glass. It has a strong, fresh aroma of grapefruit and lumber. It smells almost a touch sour-- "nose tart". Itís very full and soft in the mouth and it leaves the tongue a little singed. Itís bursting with fresh hop flavor and quite bitter. Grapefruit peel bitterness becomes wooden and, finally, resiny at the finish and throughout the aftertaste, where it picks up some juniper and black pepper. The whole affair is pretty dry. I really love a beer like this. Itís strong and heavy enough to support all those hops and the malt never creates any conflict.
